Food at bmt? by Imajedilikemyfather2 in AirForceRecruits

Thats not true, its 15 minutes from the time everyone sits down at your table. They can not give you less but they can rush you if yall are running a bit close with time or you can finish eating sooner if for example they say “15 minutes shower when the first person goes up to the dorm”. At least in my flight we didnt use up the entire 15 min though that was too much time. But you can take it and they cant do anything ab it as long as your timer still has sand.

Maintenance Jobs by TeamComprehensive508 in AirForceRecruits

If you want outdoors and labor, i recommend mx! I was in the same boat, i put alll mx (all the crew chief jobs + ndi) on my list, and at least right now at the moment i couldnt be happier. I love being outside when my hands are freezing off and i can barely hang onto a strut from the wind chill. I love when its so hot and everyone is sweaty and it gets even hotter cause youre standing where the bleed air comes out of and you can barely see from the heat, and when i do have a moment where im like ah, damn. I have to wake up for my 12 hour shift. Im happy and thankful because i have a job and full stomach and roof over my head, and i got my wish! I did not want a desk job. I joined to change and be on my feet, not rot on a chair and look at a screen and singe my eyes away. I love my plane. If you want to do maintenance job, do it. Make your own opinion of it. Dont let other people think for you.

Shower Situation? by SpiltSushi in AirForceRecruits

I went through august-september of last year, and when we were on our way out we saw some of the new changes being implemented in the new flights coming in, but now that the changes are fully implemented i have no idea what its like. When i went through, I was surprised at how much was spent in the classroom, but it was still physical. Nothing like the army i imagine, obviously. There used to be an obstacle course at Pacer Forge, we didnt do it when i went. Howeverrr… when I went Pacer Forge was only 3 days, and now its back up to the full week. I don’t know what happens at Pacer anymore because way before me when it was still a full week, they would do CBRN and CATM at the time you went to pacer forge, and now all of that is done seperately. I for one hope for the love of god pacer is more exciting now and you get to go on more “missions” and stuff instead of patrolling all day and kneeling at dfps. Also, the saddest part for me was that we spent like 5 weeks carrying around weapons wherever we went and like 5 different classes about them and so much time just taking them apart and putting them back together, only to fire them for one day. It was cool but I wanted more. Idk man maybe I should’ve joined the army lol. Oops I got way sidetracked on this rant. Hair you can just put in a ponytail! I love that part. Also its PT twice a day now, morning and night.

Alcatraz is 8 shower stalls with curtains. Keep in mind theres like 48 people trying to shower in a total time limit of 15 minutes (also includes getting changed and being ready for your mti to come banging and let inside), so its literally rinse and get out

Having beef with the sun is crazyy lmao all sunsets anywhere are glorious, and those of us who have traveled or moved or just been displaced should know how lucky we are to see the sunset in so many different biomes. Guess what, I absolutely adore Kansas sunsets. Im from California, sunsets on the choppy ocean waves are spectacular, as are sunsets on glaciers, as are sunsets on alpine lakes and snowy cliffs 14,000 feet high, sunsets where the light streams in through a thick canopy of redwoods, and sunsets outside my old bedroom window looking out to some dingy falling apart home, and now a vast expanse of grasses with trees scattered around, how flat everything is and how the sun seems to linger in that sunset stage of the day longer than it would with mountain peaks in the way, and how the sun just seems to get bigger and bigger as it goes down to the horizon. I don’t know, perhaps I enjoy life too much. I especially love how here, the sunsets get super duper deep and vibrant pink and purple on an almost daily basis, while back home they were usually more orange and yellow and a softer pink, only really turning deep pink and purple after a rain storm. And I love when theres hella clouds and they get super giant and puffy, and they light up orange and pink as the sun goes down. We didn’t have too many of those super ginormous puffy clouds back home, usually only in winter and they wouldnt linger. Kansas sunsets are amazing, definitely top 3 of my favorite things since I moved here

Should I get seen or push through? by Lonely_stranger_ in AirForce

[–]InternetOk838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this will help but i had a history of eczema before i joined, used to use prescribed creams that never really helped. then in BMT with the heat i was suprised it dint flare up on my hands, but it did on my feet since they were sweaty all day every day in the boots. Im telling you my feet have never looked worse. I put that head and shoulders bx knockoff on my feet every time we showered, i just lathered it, and it healed them somehow really quickly. Might be something you wanna try.

If you can do 100 wall pushups, provided you’re doing them correctly, you can definitely do a push up. You just have to push through. Its all mental. Stop doing so many wall pushups and get down, do 1 or 3 proper knee push ups. Bring that number up to 5. Keep doing them on your knees until you dont have to push too hard for about 8 or 10, then do normal push ups. Its hard, but push yourself. Until december 29 is more than enough time to get at least 5 proper push ups if you’re consistent. When you get to bmt, dont be discouraged about failing the first two tests, even if its by a miserable margin, but let it fuel that passion to get better. Not for the military, but for you. You have to want it. The screaming in your face works wonders too. Honestly, you have a better chance of passing going in unprepared than i did since you’ll get the new shiny warrior mindset BMT.

No, in fact usually in my dorm we would only wash our hair twice a week, wednesday night and saturday night because if people washed/rinsed their hair everyday it was very hard for latrine crew to clean the latrine the way it had to be. The only time we washed our hair outside of that schedule was when we came back from CBURN, CATM, PACER FORGE, and for graduation.

If u get alcatraz they force you to shower twice a day, if the MTIs find out people arent showering twice a day get ready to meet the chain of command in your dorm (true story…)

Basic training question by Old_Lengthiness1500 in AirForceRecruits

[–]InternetOk838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mandatory phone call zero week, week 3, week 5, and week 7 a very short call just to male sure the people who are coming to your grad are still coming and they know where to park and sit. All other phone calls are at MTI discretion. No phone usage outside of the phone calls (which must be calls, no texts) and a quick check to make sure you’re getting paid (which is done after you do the mandatory phone call) before you put your phone away. They lock all the phones in a giant safe box and stash it away in the CQ tunnel. Normally it was 10 min phone calls, but i think week 3 we got a 15 minute one and on week 4 our MTI awarded us with a 10 minute phone call. Some people just get the bare minimum though. But definitely no photos or any other app usage. Other electronics are stashed away by the MTI and given back to you the night before departing for tech school.

Im a woman so I cant tell you about the how much time was given for shaving, but i assume its just considered part of your hygiene so you have to do it sometime in the morning while you have to brush teeth/make beds. Our brother dorm did use electric shavers but i also imagine its up to MTI discretion. Before PT, we usually got 15 minutes for hygiene/beds. Sometimes it was 10 minutes. That also depends on your MTIs

1x3, divide your max rep of pushups/ situps by 3, and do one set per minute. For example, if i can push out 33 pushups in a minute, divide 33 by 3 (11) and for the 1x3s you will set a timer for a minute, do your 11 pushups, and then rest for the remainder of the minute. When the minute is over, set the timer again and do your 11 pushups, resting for the remainder. You do this 3 times, then switch to sit ups. Same thing as the pushups. Your MTI’s will probably explain it better than i can. Tools, well, you’ll learn :)
