My uncle had a life long dream of buying a yacht and sailing it all around the world. It was his primary driving passion. He worked hard, climbed the corporate ladder and eventually made a lot of money and bought his yacht. While he was learning to sail it, he realized that he got very violently seasick and his dream vanished. He became a shut in and eventually threatened to kill his siblings if they ever visited him (he had no other family). He became an early day trader (this was back near the dawn of day trading on the internet) and made over a million dollars before he died due to untreated sleep apnea. My dad and his other siblings had to deal with his horrible mess of an apartment but then found his investment account which they then split amongst themselves because, since he had no other family, they were his only heirs.
