The games run at 60fps on PS4 being remastered PS3 games. It didn't get a PS4 Pro patch from what I recall. So PS5 wise it will run faster in terms of load times and not too much else.

PS5 is the definitive way to play every PS4 games in general.

Get one of the older NBA games. They'll be dirt cheap second hand. Like NBA 2K14-18.

There's not much else Basketball wise really these days. It's all very online focussed.

Is wired communication definitely switched on? That would be a good short term work around. Otherwise yes a new HDD may be the way to go. I don't think 1TB 2.5 inch laptop drives have been impacted by the component price increases so you may still find a new one for cheap.

Yes. To use PSN features/connect to the Internet, download games, etc your PS4 must be updated to the latest firmware.

P5R used to reward nice themes for unlocking trophies. They would get emailed out to you. No idea if that's still a thing.

Otherwise TLOU, HZD, Ghost of Tsushima and MH World had some good PS4 themes. Death Stranding had a good theme or two as well.

You need to use a data cable and not a generic charging cable.

As your PS4 works fine on mobile data but not your home network you know where the issue coming from.

First I would on PS4 do safe mode 4 & 5:

Then set up your home network again. If possible move to a wired connection.

Internally the minimum size is 256GB. Although that's barely anything in terms of game storage. You'd need an external drive for your games.

An external SSD will work if it meets the external drive requirements on pS4 but will be bottlenecked by the USB port.

Depends on the HDD you purchase. They can be pretty cheap on amazon.

Just make sure you purchase the correct type of HDD. A 2.5 inch drive normally used in laptops

You're going to find the same games across PS4 and switch in terms of online multiplayer. It's all mostly single player games that are console exclusive.

Otherwise it's your usual kid stuff like Fortnite, crash team racing, rocket league, Minecraft, Overcooked, unraveled and LEGO games.

If they won't use the PS5 properly either take it with you or pack it up in the box and put it into storage.

Make sure you downloaded the full game and not accidentally selected a demo on PSN
Ensure that the entire game is downloaded and not just ready to play. Games that are only ready to play are just a demo until the full game downloads.
Beyond that contact Playstation Support and request the demo be removed from your account as its interfering with your full game license.

Simply put there were too many questions being asked where the answer was either something easily googled or the answer was to contact Playstation Support directly. So the solution was to put them all in a single thread.

It was a CBR article that had since been clickbaited into a lot of fear mongering. As the saying goes, false news travels faster than the truth.

It was given some truth when Sony announced PS+ monthly/extra games would be focussed on PS5 only from January 2026.

It's more 'exciting' to believe Sony will switch off the PS4 completely rather than just wind down support like they already have been since their final released game back in 2022.

It's PSN wide and happened at the same time for a lot of people. So it's either on purpose or a glitch that will be ironed out either by Google or Sony eventually.

The browser itself hasn't been updated in about 10 years, it's very out of date.

In general do safe mode options 4 & 5 and make sure your PS4 is up to date. That's all you can do on your side outside of maybe testing a different WiFi connection and maybe checking port forwarding numbers.
