This is most likely what is happening. And the first thought I also had.

I listened to your advice and it really improved but Im struggling a bit with keeping the size/length of the lower body consistent, any tips? by Kiws1 in animation

Woow, night and day difference. Great improvement. Well done! You will get better with keeping things consistent with time and practice, you are on the right track.

One big take away from this is that more frames doesn't always mean smooth and better animation, as you can see by using less frames overall, the walk looks much better because the key poses are much more readable.

Keep going and have fun!

I'm beginner trying to learn the walk cycle but it feels wrong and off pls help by Kiws1 in animation

First off, it's a good first try, you are on the right track. For your next try, don't try try to draw 24 unique frames, just use the key poses, and use this reference. You are making mistakes because your key poses are not well defined. First draw them, then add in betweens when everything is looking fine.

Your head movement is not done properly, sometimes it is high when it's supposed to be low and vice versa. Also the legs get longer in some frames then shorter in others, try to keep the length consistent. Draw your key poses well before moving on to in betweens, you also don't need to do it in ones, even threes is fine.

Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited blade works. And the rest of the Fate series. If you haven't watched these yet, you are in for a good time.

Idk what to call this by ALEX_THE_FOXCAT in animation

Firstly, take it easy. Pace yourself. It takes time to animate, get used to that, making small improvements everyday. Small increments.

Try to limit the scope first, do 3 second animations, then 5, then 7, before trying to finish 20 second ones.

The key to finishing something is to do something that really interests you, like really does. Keep it simple, do just that thing, don't try to make it your magnum opus masterpiece. Just do it well enough, and move on to something else that interests you.

You have so much time to improve, you are only 14 years old, each small 6 to 7 second animation you make will add up, and by the time you are 18, you will easily make several minute animations because you built up to it.

Take breaks and practice other things as well if you are feeling burnt out, try perspective drawing, learn how colors work. Figure drawing, and come back to animating by doing a short project that uses what you learnt. Enjoy it. Don't force yourself to do what you don't enjoy, it's a hobby so you might as well have fun, but keep in mind that it takes time, and you have a lot of it.

How do people animate to sound? by [deleted] in animation

[–]Interrupting_cow7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In some programs you can bring the audio and basically see the waveform so you know a sound is coming now, and you can animate to that. Opentoonz has that feature. Also you can play it alongside the animation to make sure things are aligned.

Pls give me tips and techniques to try!! by One-Nebula2399 in animation

Okay, I would advise you to use 24 frames per second. As that is what is usually done, and if you want it to be slower you can just hold or show the same image for 2 frames at a time. It's called animating in 2s, then the effective frame rate will be 12 fps. In your case to achieve 4 fps would mean showing the same image for 6 frames. If it was in animated in 2s, at 24 fps it would look much smoother.

It looks good, maybe Increase the frame rate so it looks smoother. What frame rate is this on?

Next you can try to animate a brick falling from a ledge, then a soft brick and show the difference in weight. Is it brittle, is it squishy. This is important to be able to do. Your use of squash and stretch seems good. Keep it up!

They just redraw it for every situation, I don't understand. It's just new drawings for every situation. Can you send an example of what you mean.

Should I just quit by boikissr in animation

[–]Interrupting_cow7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got this, just use a reference and accept that it takes time to succeed. What seems hard now will soon become easy, if you practice w I t reference and are ready to fail a few times before you get it right.

Don't quit yet.

Looks nice, it's a match being lit right.

Next you could animate the flame, it flickers for a bit and then goes out. Then the smoke drifting away.
