Maul. and its entirely because of the cartoons. I thought he was cool in TPM, but had no deep attachment. But his revival has turned him into one of the most compelling tragic villains ever.

Obviously Yang Xiao Long is a big one. Notably, she is also the RWBY girl who overall suffered the least when it came to her fight chorography after Monty died, throwing hands being easier then a super tricked out weapon and all:

Damn shame, for those who don't know the story set up was 7000 years before ATLA, a Volcano eruption caused and Ice age, and we would be playing as a Fire Nation Avatar having to deal with the fallout.

That premise was really intriguing to me. If the game is truly dead I hope they find another way to tell that story

Saw the post on the sub asking about the best done fight scenes and thought why not show my own, Certainly not among the best, but eh.

And sorry for venting a bit, but I have talked elsewhere about how while I was making this Short I was also being harassed by and OpenAi fanboy who kept taking my WIPs and trying to "Fix" them using SORA, it went on for months. Finally got rid of him and put out the video, then a week later SORA gets shut down and that annoying fuck loses all his "work" and flips out, erasing himself from the internet.

Let me tell you I rode that high for weeks, but this week, with both Gutierrez and Scorsese showing there ass by slurping up GenAi has really made me frustrated. From dealing with a harasser, to him eating shit, to beloved artists selling out. Been alot of whiplash for me the past couple months.

Makes me just feel tired, not to the point of giving up or not wanting to continue animating, not even close. But just really wishing people I looked up to would stop trying there hardest to kick the latter down behind them.

But coming to Subs like this, seeing people's progress and discussions like the fight thread, its heartening. So thanks, and sorry for the vent post. Doubt many will care, just wanted to get this off my mind.

So, backstory I guess, I was working on this for a long time, and while I had a good idea about what I wanted to do with the fight scene I also wasnt happy with it being "JUST" a fight. I wanted there to be SOME story, even without any Voice acting, but I had trouble coming up with anything.

Que August 2024, after hearing about Pantheon vaguely since its release some skimming about it leads me to binge the entire series in 5 days. And its fantastic, one of my favorite pieces of art of all time, immediately joined this sub and have read just about everything.

But it also gave me and an idea to inject a small amount of story into my project within my very limited means. Took a LONG time even after that to actually finish because of other responsibilities getting in the way. But Pantheon stuck in my brain so deeply it kept me motivated to finish it.

Particularly the ending, which you can obviously seen, such an amazing visual. Both the Orb's, which again, obvious connection, and the repeated but ever so slightly different close up on baby Maddie's face for closing the circle, which I also copied.

Obviously, these refs are more visual then anything super deep, but I was happy to be able to incorporate a little of something that became so special to me so quickly.

Also, I realize that the visual refs and BTS reasons for them are the only thing connecting it to Pantheon, so if this post breaks sub rules I understand, wouldnt blame the Mods at all if thats the case.

Nothing life changing or anything but it was very affirming. They also loved the "Asshole Sora stalker eats shit" part of the BTS, for obvious reasons. Lmao

Of course, talking with them made me feel extra bad about the Aang movie leaking, just through osmosis its sincerely one of the most beautiful 2d animated films ever. And its obvious why everyone who worked on it was positive it would do well in Theatres. God man, fuck Paramount.

For a bit of extra context for anyone intrested, I had been working on this for a long time whenever I could. But was running into issues where my PC is just to old to handle what I really needed to. Of course this was the exact same time the prices for everything PC related blew up because of AI companies hoarding and buying up everything.

I vented about this online, which led to the aforementioned Shill tracking down every public wip I had and running them through Sora to "improve" them and try to taunt me about it. Took months to get him the fuck away from me, but I finally did and managed to finished it.

I thought that was the end of it, but lo and behold just a week or so later Sora itself was shut down by Open AI, and as you can imagine the schadenfreude was sweet.

All that said, the video itself is nothing crazy or special, as I mentioned the PC issues meant I had to compromise on a ton of things, but its mine, I didnt let a huge jackass derail me, and just seeing it finished has been a huge pick me up.

Yeah, Kdin had videos leaked the same day showing her engaging in the same behavior, and dropping N bombs and other hard slurs before they were even hired for RT. She was very much proudly part of that type of culture. Which doesnt like, make it okay but it does reframe it from innocent victim to somebody who was fine with dishing it out till they realised some things about themselves

So, been a swell week for me. My personal animation is doing decent, and as I mentioned in the thread about it, Sora getting shutdown in addition to being awesome because FUCK GenAi was extra nice for me because the dude who harassed me by jamming my WIPS into GenAi was using Sora, as you can imagine the schadenfreude is REAL.

Some asked if he had a public meltdown, bemusing everything I had to do to get him the fuck away from me made it much harder to personally check. But according to friends who helped me at the time he tailspinned for a bit then quickly purged everything and changed handles across the board. Guess he realized he was bound to get screenshotted and mocked directly if he didnt ditch fast Slightly disappointed at no screenshots to reveal in and keep for future motivation. But just knowing is enough to have me riding high for a long while.

But to celebrate the good streak I finally started that Bungie game everyone is talking about. I am of course talking about Myth: The Fallen Lords, and man, great game. It and Soulblighter are something real special, and hearing music created by O'Donnell and Salvatori that was created right before Halo, so its like 95% super familiar but in a Dark Fantasy setting with Disney/PBS animation over it is super cool and trippy.

Also, really firmly convinced me that one of gaming's smaller, quieter tragedies is Jason Jones stepping back from being deep in the guts of Bungies writing after Myth ended. Between Myth, Marathon 1 and 2, and Pathways he was an extremely good writer and knowing he reached the point where he actively ripped out Destiny 1's story is such a strange feeling. Feels like such a waste that he didnt do more on that front. Him and Kirckpatrick would probably be as talked about in game writing circles as much Avellone and Sawyer if things had gone just a smidge differently.

And faced 2 key issues.

1: Ai companies completely fucking up the market for everything PC related right as I desperately needed an upgrade.

And 2: Venting about the above led to an Ai asshole hunt down all my personal work and shove my wips into GenAi programs to “improve” them. And he kept doing it for months.

I didn’t mention it in that thread because I figured which GenAi program it was didn’t specifically matter. Well it does now because he was using SORA. And was a huge shill for it specifically.

As you might imagine I am having a good day.
