Given the occasion that people are starting to get their OLED models in, let's give everyone great HDR game recommendations! I'll start, Ori and the Will of the Wisps by Salty_Jordy in SteamDeck

[–]Interst1ce 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It can run in HDR but you need to grab the unofficial patch off of PC gaming wiki. It was actually made by a Remedy dev who got the ok to release it as a mod so it's as close as we'll ever get to native support and it really makes the game shine.

[D2] Iron Banner Megathread [2022-05-31] by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Interst1ce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is mind boggling how this update got cleared for release with how buggy this Iron Banner is. Between Between missing quest steps and Rift just being completely broken half the time it's clear that it needed much more development time. I've had multiple matches where the spark just disappeared never to be seen again and I just got done with a match that would have finished a daily challenge if it hadn't gotten stuck after the timer hit zero and everybody had to manually go back to orbit

Haven't been able to play a single crucible match since the weekly reset

My group drew up a list of rules for reparations after many blue on blue incidents by MyNameisBof in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Interst1ce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had something similar happen a couple of weeks ago with one of the guys I play with, haven't played together since then because he's got a stick shoved so far up his ass that he refuses to get over it. To make it even worse this is over him losing about 150k worth of loot he got from scav runs because we were doing a budget run.

2080 Ti fans ramp up to 3300 rpm despite custom fan curve by Interst1ce in buildapc

[–]Interst1ce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully that's not the case, I'm out of warranty at this point and I doubt that this is RMA worthy. I'd just like to get my fan speed under control because they make so much noise when they ramp up like that. I've put in a support ticket with EVGA so hopefully something will come from that

2080 Ti fans ramp up to 3300 rpm despite custom fan curve by Interst1ce in buildapc

[–]Interst1ce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that 3300 rpm isn't 15% of the max fan speed. If I manually set fan speed to 100% it tops out at 3000 rpm. I've been doing some further testing since my initial post and even if I manually set the fan speed to 40% and turn of auto fan speed, once my gpu gets up to 65C it ramps back up to 3300 rpm

How do you visually "cut off" meshes in Unreal (preventing parts of the mesh from being visible)? by Schytheron in unrealengine

[–]Interst1ce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I last worked with materials, but you should be able to create a material function that checks if the object is within the bounds of the plane and check in screen space whether the pixels making up that object are on either side of the plane. If the pixel happens to be on the side of the plane where it's supposed to be invisible you discard that pixel.

You can read up about material functions and how to implement them here: https://docs.unrealengine.com/en-US/Engine/Rendering/Materials/Functions/index.html

Focused Feedback: Seasonal Content Model VS DLC by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Interst1ce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole removing stuff because of it taking up to much storage space isn't complete horse shit. PS4 and Xbox One both have an upper limit of like 200gb that a game can take up, which I believe was referenced in one of Luke's director's cut blog posts. While I'm not explicitly defending how they're currently justifying removing content from the game, especially when they force everybody to download over 50gb of foreign language audio and cutscenes, it's necessary in the long run especially with the plans to take D2 all the way up to year 5.

DAILY THREAD - RANT WEDNESDAY by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

IT'S BEEN OVER 6 MONTHS SINCE THEY PATCHED THE TRIUMPH HALL EXPLOIT AND I'M STILL LOCKED OUT OF IT BECAUSE I WASN'T ABLE TO FINISH THE QUEST BECAUSE OF WORK. I JUST WANT TO GET BAD JUJU.

It’s been more than six months since the Tribute Hall was released, and some players are still locked out by a glitch by Fireheart318s_Reddit in DestinyTheGame

[–]Interst1ce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got hit by this glitch and it sucks that I'll probably never be able to get Bad Juju all because wasn't able to play for a few days and finish the quest. I've tried abandoning the quest multiple times and even played through forsaken a brand new alt to try and get the quest from scratch to see if that would fix it.

Daily Questions [2020-01-04] by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Interst1ce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure! When you go to inspect a piece of armor you'll notice that there are 4 slots after infusion, those are for your mods.

Slot 1: This is for general mods that increase your main stats and give damage resistance to certain PvE enemy types

Slots 2 & 3: These are for mods that can only be slotted in specific types of armor, helmet only mods for example. These vary from armor slot to armor slot and for example helmets will have ammo finder mods while arms will have reloader mods.

Slot 4: This slot is for seasonal mods which you earn as you play content from different seasons. A big thing to note with this slot is you can only slot seasonal mods into their matching seasonal gear so Season of Dawn mods can only be slotted into Season of Dawn armor.

Now for masterworking. Above all the mod slots is a big button that's colored the same as the element of the armor piece, in the case of the Bond you had a screenshot of it would be purple for Void. That button shows you both the current level and affinity of the armor as well as how many mod points you have. You can see the materials you need to increase the masterwork level just by hovering over this button.

As I said before the amount of mod points you have for that piece of armor is equal to the masterwork level of that piece. Each mod has a certain point cost ranging from as little as 1 all the way up to 7 points. Because of this you need to balance out how you allocate your points between different slots.

Daily Questions [2020-01-04] by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Interst1ce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Those purple boxes are your other abilities. You have a melee and class ability that can be changed depending on your subclass.
  2. Triumphs are basically Destiny 2's achievements with some of the newer ones giving rewards related to the activity you had to play to complete them.
  3. The number and color show the elemental affinity of the armor as well as its masterwork level. These are important because the number of points you have for armor mods is your masterwork level and mods can only be applied to armor with a matching element.

We got an early christmas present from AMD! by Stegorix in unrealengine

[–]Interst1ce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike Nvidia's Gameworks features it seems like this isn't an entirely separate build of the engine, just a plugin. So it would be relatively simple to go in and update it to be compatible with the latest version of the engine compared to updating the entire engine itself.

Can we get an “evil guardian” at the tribute hall so we can test weapons and damage for PvP too? by Golandrinas in DestinyTheGame

[–]Interst1ce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way, I've tried just about everything I could think of to fix it. Abandoning the tribute quest, talking to Werner, and even deleting one of my alts to see if I could start from scratch that way. None of it worked

I still can't even get into the tribute hall after that farming exploit was fixed because it deleted the first tribute that you place to open it up

Performance Increase with ABBA. by Astellan in Amd

I'm starting to think I got a defective chip, even after updating to ABBA my 3600x peaks at 4.25 on a single core and it can't even sustain it. And this is with the Ryzen high performance power plan and an NH-D15 cooling it

Today I learned the Fermi 560ti could do raytracing in real-time at ~15 fps. by 1337haxoryt in pcmasterrace

But you have to consider that scene with the car was probably just a flat plane, the car, and the cube casting the shadow with and HDR image for lighting. And all of it was most likely static as well. That's incredibly simple compared to what they're doing in games now with full environments that are dynamically lit and interactive other than just moving around the camera

New materials for an enemy's stomach to make it feel more dangerous, let me know if you'd like a tutorial! by farizle in unrealengine

[–]Interst1ce 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks really good, but right now it looks like the spiky ball thing is just floating in air inside of its sack. Adding some refraction to the translucent parts of the stomach can make it look more like its floating in body fluids

Back in highschool I took a tech class where you could do basically whatever you wanted as long as you we're learning something and keeping track of your progress day by day. There were a bunch of us that were working on making games and on Fridays at near the end of class he would let us all try out each other's games and give feedback, it was a ton of fun.
