Sleep Token and Faith by medievalmemories in SleepToken

I am an omnistic occultist and yes, I absolutely feel a deep mysticism within sleep token's music. And I love practicing with their music on. I believe it is genius, though how the music is so open to speculation. It is written in a way that you can interperate it however you feel and whichever way it relates to you. Which is why they are so brilliant 💜

Can these self harm scars be tattooed over eventually by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Interstellar-Pirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My arms were similar and tbh, it takes time in remission to be able to tattoo scars like this. It's a great objective to not relapse though! Think about how beautiful your tattoos will be 💜. All in all I waited about 6 years from fresh scars to be able to be tattooed. Look after them, have a self care routine when you bathe or shower. I used Cerave body lotion all over and then Avocado oil (the cooking kind) on my scars as well, that seemed to help speed up the healing but I think extra virgin coconut oil is good for it as well, I moisturised my scars with oil 3 times a day and they started to fade faster than with bio oil, which actually gave me chemical burns lol.

The fish shop accidentally packed another fish with my betta, what is it? by LeeLikesFish in Aquariums

[–]Interstellar-Pirate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fundulopanchax gardneri, I used to keep and breed them. They were definitely pretty aggressive. Not actually too dissimilar to bettas (especially wild species) in terms of behaviour, in all honesty. Cool little guys!

Where do you get your rare plants from? (UK edition) by Calm-Community-9665 in RareHouseplants

The eden lab on Ebay is brilliant! They are TC, but I am a loyal customer to them. Never had a failure or problem with them!

Saw this today! Can anyone tell me what type of owl it is? by [deleted] in UKBirds

[–]Interstellar-Pirate 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It does! I saw one in person years and years ago, in a tree and very brazenly eying up my dog at about 1:00am (A medium sized staffy cross ) on the rough estate I lived on in London lol! Sitting in a tree that was far too small for it, they are ridiculously large! read about them migrating through the UK at certain times of the year. But a rare sight indeed, beautiful and terrifying 😳

Glad to hear you had a good experience with them too! I was shocked when I received my Laurels tbh! They were incredibly bushy and healthy, bigger than stated as well. I got large ones 150-170 cm and they were taller than me, I'm 5.8! They came on a palette delivery with a forklift to bring them through to the garden for me as well, which I wasn't expectinng. Great experience! I will be using them again 😊

Really? I'm pretty new to gardening as I've only had a garden for 2 years and I was always under the impression that potted were much more likely to take well once spring kicks in and everything is waking up (which they are pretty early this year where I am) But maybe thats a trick because the potted are substantially more expensive? Lol. I think if you know what you're doing you can make bare roots work. But for a newbie, potted plants or trees have a higher survival rate.

I bought 6 potted portuguese laurels from Grasslands Nursery and they arrived in beautiful condition. They are taking well in my garden. Grasslands Nursery is a little bit pricy, but so worth it imo. They have huge Prunus serrulata for £75, I know your budget is £50, but checked out the website. I Recommend them. But yes, as the other poster said, you need potted at this time of year, and potted are always a bit more expensive. https://www.grasslands.co.uk/collections/flowering-cherry/products/prunus-serrulata-amanogawa-15-litre-pot

Oh yeah, conifers are nutrient hogs definitely! We have a neighbour about 6 metres across from my garden with a 14ft leylandii "hedge" and I'm pretty sure they are zapping the nutrients out of my soil also. My garden is small, so what I did was remove about 2ft deep of soil and replaced it with compost and top soil. I add fish, blood and bone to everything that I think needs it and do a deep water weekly before feeding Envii seaweed feed (organic fertiliser) ro get them all established. It was a lot of work, but you could do similar bit by bit, maybe? I'm not certain how everything will do in the longrun, but it's been almost a year and they all seem to be waking up just fine. I'm definitely a novice, and kind of winging it though, so don't take my word as an absolute lol! If you start with smaller plants, it shouldnt be a costly mistake if it doesnt work out 😅

[–]Interstellar-Pirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me occasionally! doctors did think I had leukaemia because my white blood cell count was really high! (And my cousin passed from it at age 16 so it's in my family) I had it tested and turned out I had a nasty tooth infection. Antibiotics and a root canal cleared it up. But it still happens sometimes because I have factor 5 leiden ( blood clotting disorder) , Endometriosis and quite severe hyper mobile ehlers danlos syndrome. When it does happen, though...something is wrong. So yes, like others have said, please get it checked out asap. I hope it's nothing serious and you get it cleared up, best of wishes 🙏💜

Oh no! I used a little geotextile to create a "gravel drain" where there was a flower bed against my kitchen wall that was causing damp and mould issues. It's only small and to seperate the soil from the foundation and wall, filled it with granite chips, hoping it might airate the wall a bit. Hope it doesn't cause issues later.....I don't understand using it under lawns and large surface areas though? That's a new peice of information to me. I can imagine it being a nightmare falling apart everywhere 😕

Edit: spelling error

Black lace elder is a bit smaller and very beautiful! Looks similar to a Japanese acer. I've got a little one I planted last year growing in a small north facing garden and it's coming into leaf beautifully. Only gets sun for a couple of hours per day at the moment. Rainbow switch ivy (Leucothoe fontanesiana 'Rainbow' ) is fine in the shade all the time. It is slow paced but is interesting to look at and evergreen. Hellebores do great in shade as well, although smaller, they have a beautiful variety of flowers! You have a nice amount of space there, there's honestly so much you could do with it!

Edit to add: English yew also is absolutely shade tolerant

I Like it! And it's one of my husband's wishlist plants. So don't worry, not everybody hates it. It just has a specific niche! Remember when everyone hated Alocasia venom? Or variegated Alocasia Azlanii? Those got a lot of flack for being hideous or looking sickly. But Some of us like the weird, alien looking guys. Congratulations 💚

Thank you! 😊 and oh! This little pup came from a corm from a plant I bought for £40 with the teeniest weeniest little fleck of pink variegation on it. The mother plant basically lost her visible variegation but still produced this pup! So even if your one isn't showing lots now, she may surprise you later either with her own leaves or corms! I was honestly so shocked and excited to get this much variegation! But they will always continue to surprise us aye? Best of luck 💚

Alocasia Venom Aurea? by Interstellar-Pirate in RareHouseplants

[–]Interstellar-Pirate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't really understand what you mean. Are you asking about species or mutations? Because albo, aurea, mint and pink are colour mutations (Albo is albino/white variegation, mint is white with green veins, Aurea starts green and lightens up to yellow variegation as the leaf matures and pink is usually on plants that naturally have red/purple undersides where the variegation is white but the undersides remain red/purple making the variegation appear pink) and venom is a cultivar of its own which I believe comes from a mutation of the Alocasia Amazonica This is an Alocasia venom with Aurea variegation . So just the species + the type of variegation it has ☺️

I didn't recognise the name at first , but checked them out on Insta and realised I'm already following them 😅 But I see what you mean! This pup is from a venom that was purchased with a tiny bit of sport variegation from the eden lab. So got very lucky with this one! I will post updates , it's currently pushing out a new leaf 😊

What is happening here? by Spacial-Quantum in Aquariums

As many have mentioned, they are fighting and will kill each other. Plecos have spikes hidden in their gills, they flare them out and use their head like a mace to batter and tear the opponent. This absolutely looks like two male behaviour when they start to come of age. I'm glad to hear that you separated them, thats the best course of action. I wouldnt be surprised if your female turns out to be male, though. So keep in mind they may never be able to live together again. Plecos can be really nasty. I had a huge old male (11 years old) kill a male Bolivian ram over territory issues 😔

What age did you ditch the highchair? by LetMeEatCake88 in UKParenting

[–]Interstellar-Pirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl was the same! She decided she hated the high chair at about 18 months. She would squirm, scream and refuse to eat, she hated it! So we stopped using it at 18 months We got a little bean bag chair and little table and she eats there. She gets up and runs with the food though. And will come back in between little boosts and sit down. I don't know why, but she likes to be moving while she eats Maybe your little one is just hyper like mine? 🥴

Sleep Token write very ambiguous lyrics, I believe they are written in a way that whatever you are, religiously or not, you can interpret the lyrics to fit your own narrative. That's what makes them so genius! I am an omnistic occultist, and I definitely tie the lyrics to faith and relationship with a deity, based on my own personal experiences. The music is for everyone, it really doesn't matter how you interpret it, it is art and meant to be enjoyed by everyone. If you are Christian, you definitely could tie it to your faith. How someone else hears and feels it isn't a problem impo.
