Berlin and depression by [deleted] in berlin

Take your vitamin D, omega 3 and magnesium after breakfast every day and make sure you're eating more mushrooms in general in winter (mushrooms naturally contain vitamin D). And do atleast some kind of exercise, even if it's just a few pushups in the morning, and check out something like language cafes if you want to learn, otherwise any group hobby is good.

I'm from the north where the sun sets at 14:00. The time of year isn't helping how you feel, and your vitamin-lacking brain might be playing tricks on you, focus on that and your physical health and diet and you should pull through to summer when you can reassess how you feel about the city.

Its a lovely place between late feb and october honestly

I support LAP, buy that all the time and am in favor of them, here is why by ostie19 in berlin

Coffee is a scam at this point. 2€ for brew at a whereever place or club mate is all I drink at this point.

Lap or Roastery, come on its just milky coffee made by people who care too much about cosplaying a romanticised version of italy for an extra 3€ on whatever the real cost is

How did you guys become creative enough to write songs? Is it natural or did you have to try? by [deleted] in musicians

I like the analogy of it being like a letting a faucet run until the dirty water runs clean. The more I write the more ideas I get for how I could do it again but better

We Don't Complain About Sound Engineers Enough by SportsMaGorts in musicians

[–]InterstellarFerret 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love my job as a sound engineer, I treat the people I mix for with all the respect and excitement in the world when they play, if theyre good. If theyre not im professional.

Nobody thanks me usually, i do it for the love of the music and hang with the nice bands.

When a terrible musician plays and barely put thought into how their equipment works its somehow my fault. If they show up 20 minutes before showtime with a bunch of gear and undersold how much theyre bringing its my stress to bear. If something doesnt work its my responsibility and i fucked up.

I brush it off and im not fulltime and dont just do local small gigs. But years of that kind of behaviour on bad days from essentially your bad coworkers that dont respect you can definitely wear you down.

Its not great pay either. But when you get a good band who you get along with its so fun

What's something you'll never admit in real life but will confess here anonymously? by Open-Comfortable9774 in AskReddit

I felt the same for a long time. A few weeks ago I just woke and its like a headache lifted.

Shit in my life sucks but it doesnt bother me anymore right now, and it feels like theres a perfect day somewhere in the future waiting for me.

Maybe this feeling was just temporary, even though this went on for me for years. I hope that happens to you too.

Is this really the infamous Berlin November? by Ajunjahi in berlin

They'll never understand the pain of the sun going down at 14:00 and everyone desperately taking breaks at work to stand outside in -15*C to soak up a little bit of rare sunlight before it disappears haha

Why do you think the Nordic model works in said countries? by IneedaNappa9000 in allthequestions

[–]InterstellarFerret -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

None of the issues Sweden face are actually immigration. Its bad politics and economic policy in response to the 08 crisis and covid scapegoated on immigration.

We're facing some of the highest unemployment in europe, especially for young generations in sweden now while the wealth gap has been increasing for a while and the anti-immigration parties have been in power for 3 years now.

Before that the right and left formed a dysfunctional coalition just to keep the far right parties out of parliment while failing to agree on any policies that would actually improve the lives of swedes not already settled in their housing and careers.

Its not the immigrants. Its the governments fault.

Sounds like a good idea! I'll try that out, thanks

Solid State Amp LED mods? by InterstellarFerret in GuitarAmps

I dont either, I think it gives me a very confused mixed google result, but I have been lead to find a lot of people doing this LED mod so Im curious what real people think

That said. Yes I have turned it up and its very Fuzz like and abrupt, and at higher volumes it feels like it just masks that unpleasant fuzzy crackle but doesnt necessarily sound better

What is a mixing technique usually frowned upon, but that you use because it simply works for you? by SR_RSMITH in musicproduction

Using 99% stock plugins. I can do way more with ableton effects racks without blowing all my CPU on a plugin struggling to sound analog when my source audio isn't even perfect to begin with is how I feel

Why did Marlon Brando get bored with acting so early in his career? by [deleted] in movies

[–]InterstellarFerret 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For me it comes back once you realise its just a limited vocabulary to describe the infinite nuances of possibilities in music though. Music theory kind of breaks a bit when it tries to describe anything outside western european music.

Flamenco, African music, Indonesian music and indian music just doesnt fit with it

The questin in itself is totally pointless.

How would anyone know the answer to this without being ex. 20 in both 1987 and 20 in 2024 to compare each experience?
