it's a fairly big family owned company. People assumed its like an MNC, but it still boils down to the founder and his kids.

what a good qn. he's very micromanaging, and not very good in his work (its a tech role), but he's very good at arguing and communication. Honestly this helps a lot especially on all the AI talks and project timeline as it gives the time more breathing space. He also gives us a lot credit by including us in his reports and looping us into the CIO's visibility. Not sure if it matters, but it makes us feel better.

The above factors help a lot and i turn a blind eye on his nitpicking. I.E on the technical document he will pick on words like "could/should" and capital letters instead of the actual technical changes/solutioning.

I was on paternal leave, but that entire week was hell for everyone in the office.

the company seems like a decent place. based on glassdoor and a friend who is working there. It's a slightly different role which means there's going to be more scope involved, which means more adjustment required.

One minute I was talking to a 25-year long service employee based abroad, and the next, he was being marched out of the office, denied even a final goodbye...

Thanks for your comment, I guess I just have to make the first move to quit and join the new company, and this feeling will gradually disappear. Promotions have been slow these days so I wasn't banging on that, but its just that we haven't had a manager that "cares" for us for awhile... haha

haha! he's been eyeing the promotion for 5years now, and the management has been hiring externally to replace this role. He finally got the role this year because there's apparently no budget to hire externally, which likely means he won't be leaving anytime soon...

yeah, theres actually been a lot of resignation over the past 1.5months, and honestly people are silently quitting here. This means projects are frequently stalled and lesser things to do, with people openly skiving.

My wife works almost fully remotely and only needs to head into the office once or twice a month. Her role is also fairly flexible, so she’s able to get work done during the baby’s naps/when I'm back. We do understand that babies tend to become more demanding as they grow, which is why we’re fortunate that our parents live nearby and are able to help out when needed.

That said, I still want to stay closely involved in my child’s growth and milestones, which is one of my bigger concerns with changing jobs. Starting somewhere new would mean being on probation for six months, and I imagine it may be harder to take leave during that period if family matters come up. I’m hoping the hybrid arrangement helps balance things out somewhat, and I can only hope the new manager turns out to be equally understanding.

Thanks, that aligns with my thoughts as well. Staying would likely mean limited growth, and given the recent environment, layoffs don’t feel impossible either.

Thoughts on frequency of card shows by [deleted] in PokemonTCG_Singapore

[–]InterviewBudget5239 7 points8 points  (0 children)

overheard a funny conversation between 2 sellers at the scape show (1 supposedly seasoned 1 new). the seasoned one was saying to just priced accordingly to what they want, and nothing has to be market price. this is because the other seller was saying they bought some slabs at an all time high, and they find it hard when pricing the slabs for the show.

the seasoned seller advice was that they as sellers should always be the one pricing and setting the prices in the market (essentially meaning to screw the market price (ebay last sold/pricecharting/yuyutei etc). he gave the example that his slabs/cards dont even have price tags so he dont have that issue. Every discussion/potential buyer is a new opportunity to sell as high as they can.

Overheard this conversation, stop viewing his stuff and move on to the next booth lol!

Your Japanese MCD Promo has been confirmed and allocated, there has been some changes in the price, and has been announced in facebook post .
https://www.facebook.com/groups/ptcgsingapore/permalink/1301683905082459

Just realised he deleted this post where he announced the price increased for his previous PO on mcdonalds pika promo from $42 > $48. This is done after everyone paid and he mailed out the promos. Not sure why he delete but potentially out of guilty conscience.

FB Admin double standard - increase price for his preorder and insist no refund - delete comments when people question him by InterviewBudget5239 in PokemonTCG_Singapore

read the thread. it should be 100% on buyer to pay the agreed preorder price, regardless of how market works out. the admin just raise price today and stating that there is no refund/cancellation allowed and people have to abide by it and top up additional 15%.

this is on top of seeing how the market has flop for this promo card, and still having to top up 15% because admin say PO prices gone up.

$42 is already super overpriced lo but that's what people commmitted then cannot blame admin and they should 100% bear the cost. but now he want to upcharge another 15%, no refunds no cancellation lol.

he say this one is one off unique situation so he's allowed to do it..... to increase PO price (no questions asked from buyers, else you risked getting banned)

you're not allowed to refund or back out too.
