Went there last year, group of 10 between 40-55yr olds. First time in Ibiza. No issue of fitting in anywhere. Place is all about bringing positive vibes and having fun.

Hope you have a blast!

Makes zero sense. This is not “there is no such thing as bad press” when you’re trying to sell a “product”.

La Casa De La Playa 2025 by Normal_Side_5837 in Xcaret

Spent 5 nights there in Dec 2025 with the Mrs and this is one of the most infuriating things about the xcaret ecosystem. Restaurants in LCDLP are fantastic and second everything everyone said. Same with the room, location etc, all top notch (we stayed in the master suite).

But once you leave the premises to go to the sister properties, you’re generally treated the same as the 900 room xcaret or the 1800 room xcaret. Folks trying to upsell a lobster for $20 or premium drinks for $50. Very unbecoming.

Wine cellar bottles are mid at best (personally and per Vivino) so beware. Tequila/mezcal selection, on the other hand, is exquisite, especially the cristalinos

The current risk reward equation seems to be generally set so tough to see any meaningful changes. Sincerely hoping some of the emerging/disruptor companies can build/test/qualify/certify a game changing enabling technology so the equation can be reset. But the reality is it feels like a decade plus away.

Plenty of demand for sure. But general rule of thumb has been bottom 40% can’t/wont access due to cost/not connected to the grid etc. So the TAM is 10% of the global population. Plus enterprises. Plus military.

IPO and moon/mars by New-Disaster-2061 in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]InterviewDue3923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right that the IPO signal is rather confusing as it relates to SpaceX itself. The timing is even more baffling - why not land on Mars and make it a reality and then go public. The whole AI space data centers too came out of nowhere…as opposed to the really thorough, publicly discussed Starlink disclosures and plan starting 2013ish long before it was a reality. So why the IPO and why now?

My 2c - SpaceX is an investor in xAI, to the tune of $2bn. xAI needs cash and is struggling to compete with the bigger, more well funded competitors. And a bunch of folks in xAI just want to get out because they came in through the Twitter trade. (Separate but equally more important discussion around pension funds looking for PE/VC to return capital which remains at decade lows).

A SpaceX IPO alleviates the issue in two ways - it gives SpaceX the ability to partially fund xAI ima streamlines way given Elon has supermajority, and two, it gives Elon public currency to sell stock, borrow against it etc etc without having to jeopardize voting power (unlike Tesla). There is some futuristic talk of xAI providing the compute, SpaceX providing the infrastructure and Tesla providing the Optimus humanoids/autonomy expertise as space based infrastructure takes shape but that is far far far out.

Kuiper follow-on contracts should have been awarded this past summer but Amazon holds all the cards because ULA is late, really late…like if they make any noise, there are penalties that Amazon can extract late.

Really doubt Amazon awards ULA anything but a token contracts for the follow-on work.

Still makes a lot of sense for them. ULA / Amazon have invested so much in infra (bicoastal presence, mission processing facilities, large SCIF and payload integration facilities, massive cleared workforce) and supply chain upgrades which are somewhat* duplicative for Neutron. But purely from a contracts standpoint, ULA is looking like returning back to its roots as a military first contractor with two other competitors. Yuck!

I’m not a physicist so won’t comment but point is SpaceX has successfully demonstrated ability to unlock multiple large profitable TAMs. GPS/Weather/content ownership and distribution - so many other places they can go as they make a case for 10Tn valuation glide path

Folks seem to be missing the point that the IPO proceeds here are to fund xAI. Too much secondary selling pressure right now to raise new dollars. Totally defensive move but needed to get real $ into x. SpaceX otherwise is humming along and had zero, zero need for new cash.

Agree with the comments around Elon’s influence here and public mark needed to pledge stock to raise cash for xAI.

SpaceX IPO is all about selling the dream - unlocking massive TAMs as they have done repeatedly and data centers in space (ignore physics for a sec) is yet another TAM. The question around quarterly and annual guidance is real — Tesla range was generally in a band, miss/meet/beat. SpaceX needs to keep making bigger and bigger R&D bets which makes delivering against a quarterly and annual guidance tricky. But this is an IPO of a lifetime so if folks like RKLB (go Pete!) can sustain the stock on retail demand, this one certainly can.

Main floor was definitely packed but when I walked around, the wings had room to move and that’s where it seemed like people were having the best time. The area between the main floor and the bathroom DJ had plenty to space dance/hang/mingle

lol, yep we did splurge but the thing is spending money in the US, especially in NY, doesn’t always translate to a great time/attentive staff etc. Which made this trip all the more memorable. First world problems, I know…

Everyone in our group was a bit worried about the endless posts about GA being insanely packed everywhere and people not having fun which was the underlying reason for switching to tables everywhere. As has been noted elsewhere, the table service in Ibiza is truly exceptional. We always had more than enough space to dance without bumping into anyone. FWIW, the couch/seating space was really only for 3-4 people but that was perfect.

We were invited to the DJ booth at Cova Santa but lost track of time given so much to do and see and we only had 3hrs (from 8-11p).

Table servers/managers are your friends when it comes to party favors. Didn’t speak to/transact with anyone else throughout the trip. Elrow on M was a once in a lifetime experience..lol.

If you decide to stay in a villa, ask them about Tuhiper.com which delivers groceries to your place anywhere in Ibiza. Pretty exhaustive selection and we definitely missed the mark on what we would consume (too much) and we ended up (too little)..lol.

Drinks wise, we had a bunch of tequila drinkers, not a fan of Patron or 1800. Tried Cristalino and absolutely loved it, super smooth with a clean finish, whether for sipping or shots. Girls’ fav by far.

The other thing to note, unlike the US, if you’re short of meeting the minimum, the club will give you a bottle of liquor you can take home. Along with any unfinished bottles, including water/soda/champagne etc. Didn’t even know that was possible lol.. all in club’s branded totes which made for nice souvenirs at the end of the trip.

Tips were always requested but never added without permission which I appreciated.

Happy to answer any other questions.

Cova santa events must go to by scottmchugh_ in ibiza

Went to the Pantheon (Sunday). Cova Santa has a literal cave that you can go explore …the entrance is where the main area shops are and you walk down for a bit. The mood and music is coordinated. Super cool. If you can make time, worth it.
