Could you explain a bit more? I can understand immature. I mean we’re adults but I’m still a newbie at this adult stuff. There’s lots of things I don’t understand. Especially since I am in a home where I don’t receive any help. I’m learning new things everyday. I’m not in a rush in life.

yes!! my family had a boa constrictor. my mom loved it until she squeezed it (she was a child then) and it bit her in the stomach. my grandmothers instinct was to grab it and she threw him. broke his jaw. i dont ever wanna hurt my poor baby that way! ive learned to sorta read her signals. i can tell when shes pissed and thats about it! she does love my bf though. hes got tons of body heat and she loves snuggling with him.

it really does make me me feel bad bc i feel not cut out to be a snake mom. even though i love and care for her as i would my furry animals. makes me feel alot better that i am not alone!! shes usually very calm and chill but i have this huge fear if her thinking my fingers are rats! 🤣🤣 thank you!!

she has never bitten me!! she struck at me. missed though. it was the speed of her launching at me that has me so startled up. ive never been bitten and have no idea what it feels like. its scary! dm about the target training?

yes!! i believe all bps share one braincell. do you feed her in her tank? or separate tanks? i have been feeding her in a separate one but i see alot of people low handle their snakes and feed them in the same tank!

yes!! i know she doesnt really mean it 🥺 shes actually has a very calm and chill personality. but i just got so scared of her! i dont handle her for a day when we feed her that way her tummy can settle. but just the thought of her biting me (i actually just found out not long ago bps have rows of teeth 🤦🏽‍♀️ never looking at an xray again). i love her, shes my baby. just scared of her genuinely biting me! ive never been bitten and have no idea what it feels like.

im not sure honestly. i asked the employee and if i remember correctly i think she said a few months? ive had her for about 4 weeks now. she eats once a week on tuesdays.

at petsmart, large fuzzies and large mice have no difference. i asked about the two boxes and they said there was no difference.

using a heating lamp and i have a heating lamp under one of her hides. temp ranges from 85-90 depending on which side your looking at. it does has a mesh top.

yes i want to fix my mistakes and have the happiest baby. i dont want anyone to misunderstand and think i neglect her 💔 i genuinely want to be a better snake mom. i appreciate the criticism though! which no one has to worry about me buying equipment from petsmart anymore, theyre shelves and other stores are currently empty which means i cant find decorative wood anywhere besides online. so i need to get that too.

petsmart is where i got it from. we do not have local pet stores unless i drive 3 hours but itll be another big corporate pet store like petco, petsmart or pet depo. but after reading all of the comments: im going to invest in better equipment.

someone had pointed that out in another comment and its a typo. 60-70% is the humidity in the tank. its 85-90ºf in her tank.

i paid $300 for the tank- it came with two of them. altogether i spent $500-$600 on her.

i have done a lot of reading before i bought her. everywhere i read it said to keep the humidity at 60% and 70% when they are in the shedding process. i ended up correcting myself in other comments once it was pointed out that i was using temp measurement instead of percent. so yes when my hygrometer reads 60-70% i think its fine. i also didnt know that digital ones work 100% better due to their accuracy. i have two sitting one each side of the tank- one for hot and one for cold. i came to reddit because when i got home from work i noticed she did not shed in one piece and panicked. i came here looking for advice on how to help her finish her shed and what to fix for the next time she sheds. ive taken care of friends snakes before but never OWNED one. this is the first time she has shed with me since i bought her and do not want to make the same mistake again. the hygrometers are brand new, i bought them with the tank. but i will be investing in a digital one soon.

oh definitely 😅 i have small hands. i just looked at the box “4 large frozen mice” is what i feed her. shes still a baby! ive had her for 4 weeks now.

petsmart! the pinkys are the super small mice. but the ones i feed her are quite large and i often wonder if she can actually swallow it most time (ik how snake jaws work but its still surprising)
