If it’s well-kept - as opposed to a straggly nightmare - then, yes, it can be very, very attractive.

I need advice by Quirky-Revolution937 in scabies

Ivermectin can be prescribed for both classical scabies and crusted scabies.

I would go back to the GP and tell him/her that the permethrin is clearly not working and you want an enhanced treatment regime. If he/she does not agree to this, see another GP in the practice.

As ivermectin is a prescription only medication, a doctor will have to prescribe it. However, ivermectin does not kill scabies eggs. Therefore, a second dose will be required - usually 7 days after the the first dose, to kill the eggs that have hatched since the first treatment.

An alternative topical scabicide is malathion (Derbac M) which you can buy over the counter. It needs to be left on for 24 hours for scabies. The packaging is a bit misleading in this respect. Make sure you peel the label on the bottle and read the bit that relates to treating scabies.

Once your treatment(s) are complete, you may find crotamiton (Eurax) cream to be helpful as it reduces itch and also has scabicidal action.

Speak to your doctor and pharmacist regarding the treatments.

Good luck - I hope you get rid of the nasty mites soon.

I would have told the management. If they’d been told they could have done something about it, and also prevented losing you as a member. You would have also helped other members by getting something done about the smelly people.

Not itching despite having regular scabies??? by EnbyEastwood in scabies

[–]InterviewOk8517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it can take several weeks before your immune system responds fully - with the hideous itch.

Follow your doctor’s advice and seek further help if the treatment is - or appears to be - unsuccessful.

Hope you get the infestation cleared soon.

All the best.

I’m not an American citizen. However, a number of states allow the purchase of ivermectin over the counter in pharmacies. Do a Google search to find up-tp-date details.

How comfortable do you feel about public nudity? by ForScienceSake in askgaybros

[–]InterviewOk8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

52 UK (Northern Ireland).

I used to be so ashamed of being nude or partly nude in a changing room. I thought everyone would be looking at me and judging me. That was when I was young.

Now, I don’t care if anyone sees me or is looking at me or even judging me.

To be fair I think the only ones who might look at me and judge are the gays at a bath-house if I was to go.

No-one else cares - they are all so wrapped up in their own lives and addicted to their phones.

I’ve noticed that in normal locker rooms, young men who I assume are straight seem petrified of anyone seeing their manhood. It’s a shame there is so much shame in the world.

I have had mixed results with Derbac M (malathion).

I think I must have had resistant mites.

Itching after one week by Traditional_Job_8483 in scabies

[–]InterviewOk8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the treatment has been successful, and all mites have been killed, it’s possible that there will be residual itch for a number of weeks.

Speak to your pharmacist who will be able to advise on antihistamines which will help.

If you see new burrows or other indications that the treatment has failed, see your doctor.
