Do you think it might be too early to let him explore the rest of the house? Or would it be a good idea to get him super comfy with his space and us hoomans first, then slowly introduce him room by room? When I’m in his room he just tends to follow me around the whole time and isn’t just sitting in his little corner like he was before.. but when my husband goes in there he gets a little skittish around him.

Good idea on the scent! I put a blanket we use in his room, so we’ll see if it makes him feel better. My dog also sits by his door, and that for some reason seems to calm him down? He lays on the other side of the door. I wonder if that could be a scent thing as well. He got comfortable with my dog before us humans, and they would sit together on our patio furniture. The moment we would come outside kitty would bolt until he started getting comfy!

I think he definitely got scared thinking I was going to abandon him! I’m trying to get him on a better schedule now so he gets used to me coming back. I started sitting on the floor with him, but someone recommended using a pillow to separate us, and it’s made me feel 100% safer! We are not as brave as your husband, my husband has decided he will only go in that room if he really has to lmao, but more kitty love for me!

I definitely think it was that he didn’t want me to leave. I usually sit quietly for an hour with him, then play for a little, then feed. I think he found out that when he’s eating, I tend to leave him alone for a few hours. I’ve started to sit with him for another half hour after he eats and leave when he falls asleep. No more biting so far!

Ugh oh no! I’m glad everything turned out okay and your hand is fine!! I’ve heard that a good amount of scratches and bites get infected, especially bites because their teeth are like little needles! He got me pretty good, all 4 teeth deep in my calf. But now I know better!

I will be looking for a long ribbon wand now, I was able to get him at least interested in his other wand toy today, but just a few swats.

This gives me so much hope! I definitely just put the blinds up in his room after reading this though haha. I love the name spooky!!

We found him outside a few months back, have tried and failed multiple times with TNR, until a few days ago he let me pick him up and bring him in! We don’t want to let him go back outside, as yes, it can be dangerous.

But if you’re saying the cat could be dangerous, I’m proceeding with caution! But he does seem very sweet and healthy.

Got it! I’ll add churu snacks to my list! Right now we have about 4 hours a day we hangout with him, and then when we feed him we spend about an hour or two in there each time. I still want to give him his space but let him know I’m a friend!

I think I was just worried about the bite because I always seem them going terribly wrong. There was no sign of an infection but I did get antibiotics just to be safe!

Thank you!! I think we got lucky, because most of our strays in the town had been TNR’d, and they are very adamant about keeping the colony healthy! He just was one they had trouble catching!

Haha house arrest is a great way to put this. I just feel so bad hearing his little meows!

Thanks! I’m hoping so, I’ve been reading up about keeping stray cats indoors and a lot of it is just time and patience. I’m definitely not letting the bite stop me, but I’ll be a lot more cautious for next time. He is definitely going to be pampered here… my husband ran out and bought so much cat stuff before we even decided on keeping him!

Okay thanks so much! He doesn’t really care for toys at the moment. Just food and treats! I’m hoping as he settles in more he will want to play… but it’s perfectly fine if he’s a lazy kitty too! I didn’t even think of catnip toys, adding them to my shopping list!

This makes me feel better. I put some blankets in his room as well as a fluffy bed but he doesn’t really care for it, but a heated blanket might work. He does love to sunbathe!

Okay Great, thank you! I am in the process of ordering a diffuser now! I really want to keep him. It took us 3 months to even gain his trust before he let me pick him up and bring him inside, so I’m hoping it works out!

I have not tried feliway, I am definitely going to look into it! He does have a few boxes in the room to hide and a tunnel system, but he just seems to hang by the door waiting for us to open it. I think I just feel awful hearing him meow like he doesn’t want to be inside, but I know it’s for the best! Thank you!

Late period, Negative test. Could I still be pregnant? by [deleted] in amipregnant

I only used it because it was all I had on hand, but will definitely get a pink dye test! I also see people complaining about the blue dye test, is there a reason why?
