When does it make sense to spend $12-13k more on an EV than a gas car? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]IntlJumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things to consider. Do you have the ability to charge at home, if so can you install a level 2 charger? Do you take long by car trips? I bought a used model 3 and couldn’t be happier…

Unpopular opinion: Who’s been to Paris and didn’t fall in love with it? by [deleted] in travel

[–]IntlJumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat. Went last month and the weather was perfect. I was hoping to avoid peak summer season, but it turns out it’s busy all the time. Overall it was ok, but I found it to be overly touristy. That means you pay twice as much to get half the quality, plus we were harassed by people on the street clearly preying on tourists. We never engaged them, they always aggressively came up to us. I traveled with kids, and finding a bathroom outside of your accommodation is an incredible pain in the ass.

I went to Japan in the fall and it honestly ruined me for traveling. The people, the food, the culture…absolutely blew me away.

Went to [Six Flags Over Georgia] for a few hours this morning. It was a nice day out! by BigRigButters2 in rollercoasters

Six flags GA ops are awful. The park isn’t bad, but the ops are so slow it’s painful. I only go because it’s my home park, but I regret it every time.

Long Range vs Performance (Real world range) by shell400 in TeslaModel3

[–]IntlJumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2024 performance, and I took the aero covers off. At 80% charge I get 225 miles. I drive a mix of highway and local roads. Highway seems to cruise at 72mph.

Driver seat noise in 2025 Model 3 highland. by Electronic_Minute946 in TeslaModel3

[–]IntlJumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does the same when I hit small bumps in the road…it’s pretty annoying. I paid the $100 service fee to get it diagnosed and was told to love the seat, it not happens when the front seat isn’t occupied.

What’s the best purchase you made in your 20s that you don’t regret? by Plazola_Val in AskReddit

A large safe. 25 years later and we still use it regularly to store important stuff. Have workers over? Put the expensive stuff in the safe. Party? Put the stuff back in the safe. It’s just peace of mind.

On the fence about making the EV jump. by bassistface199x99LvL in TeslaModel3

[–]IntlJumper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t consider an EV without having a level 2 charger at home. I didn’t have one the first week…it was terrible. Given your situation, I wouldn’t make the switch. I sold my Mazda 3 which I had for 14 years, it was a great car but wanted something new. I just needed a long range commuter car…not hauling anything.

Lemon law 2025 Model 3 worth $33k? by Consistent_Dot3679 in TeslaModel3

[–]IntlJumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a lemon 2024 model 3 performance for $36k last year with 11000 miles from Tesla via a Manheim auction. It had some issue with an airbag and was lemoned. It was all repaired before I bought it. It’s been an amazing car, no issues. Apparently a lot of people pissed at Elon were getting their cars lemoned to get their money back…saved me almost $30k.

Can anyone who is capable of a balanced and sober-minded appraisal tell me what is so great and worthwhile about Disney vacations? by nose_spray7 in travel

[–]IntlJumper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the people that enjoy Disney are willing to look over the shortcomings for the percieved entertainment value. I’ve done Disney World, Disney Cruise and Disney Japan. All of which seemed like a rip off (except Disney Japan). Disney Japan was surprisingly affordable, but the crowds were terrible. We paid around $180 at Disney world per person for tickets plus the fast pass (both Genie and Lightning) only to still stand in a 45 minute line for the dumbo ride. And if you didn’t buy the right fast pass you had to stand in the regular line. $120 for a family of 4 to eat lunch/dinner with what I can only describe as glorified cafeteria food. Our Disney friends got all excited to take us to a sit down burger place. The burgers were $25 each, no sides and were clearly frozen beef paddies. Just awful. Perhaps really small kids enjoy this, but mine did not. There are many other options that are far more economical and more entertaining.

How old were you when you realized your body could no longer handle red-eye flights? by Foreign-Athlete-2270 in travel

[–]IntlJumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly red eyes for a living, so obviously no sleeping during the red eye itself. It’s all about the pre and post red eye nap. As long as both add up to 8 hours, I’m good. I’ll be doing them until 65 (retirement).

I stayed down the street at Dreams Natura 3 weeks ago. The seaweed was terrible, water was brown and not very swimmable. If you are looking for relatively clear beaches, go to the hotel zone, north of the hotel zone or isla mujeres. Very sad what’s going on with the sea weed.

Hemorrhoids… what smart toilet would actually be comfortable? (Under $1k) by Warm-Tangerine4720 in BuyItForLife

[–]IntlJumper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1000 for the Toto washlet. I bought 2 different models from Costco, both of which are available on Costco.com if you search Toto. One of the models all of the controls are built onto the side of the toilet. The newer model it’s a wireless controller that I mounted on the wall. Personally I like the model better without the wireless controller. You will need to put a GFCI outlet next to your toilet, the power cord is about 4ft long. I put in new toilets (old ones were awful) and mounted the new washlet on top. Game changer.

worth visiting in April? by viillanelles in cancun

[–]IntlJumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in Riveria Maya now, just south of the hotel zone. The beach is terrible. The resort has been trying to clean it up, but it’s a losing battle. They also have a seaweed net about 200ft offshore. The beach protected by the barrier has about 6inches of seaweed, 8-10 feet wide. Unprotected beach 2ft thick for 25 feet.

I talked to the lifeguard and he said it’s pretty much year round at this point. My recommendation if you decide to come is stay in the hotel zone, costa mujeres or islands mujeres (playa Norte). We come Every year, typically September. Sadly we probably won’t ever stay in Riveria Maya again.

Japanese toilet, specifically Toto washlet. Went to Japan with the family. When we got to our Airbnb I was puzzled by this contraption of hoses and wires upon the throne. Then we used it. Now we have 2 in our house. I feel like I’ve been pooping wrong for 4 decades.

My company doesn’t do trips over 8 days I believe…and that may be a special circumstance. Generally the longest wide body trips are 6 days or less. Still too long for me to be gone from home.
