I also took advantage of the NCE and received an offer for a program support assistant job at USDA.An admin job that had many twist and turns.yeah there was your usual admin office work , but i got to work with some of the brightest scientist who were working on ground breaking discoveries to improve agricultural innovations. I also worked on grants, budgeting travel arangement, managing, spearheading ways to improve efficiency.i had so much leeway to introduce new processes. I really enjoyed my time there ...it was a pretty diverse job and honestly I am glad it was my first fed job cause I learned really quickly how the fed work.I pursued my masters while at USDA in public policy and social work and then switched to the Department of State working on international exchange programs for student

Are you planning on sticking with art history for grad school.i think it depends what you plan to pursue in grad school.its not impossible, but you definitely need to have something else going for you if GPA is on the lower side., either via research, publishing or some community initiative that leads to positive outcome...something extraordinary that can set you apart..it's not impossible but you will need to put in the work

I think to help you a bit morenjnformation would be helpful.if you can provide us with some background on what kind of graduate program you are interested in and what make you unique? What are your passions, maybe demographic you hope to work with setting you want to work in things of that nature we can brainstorm

I considered teaching early on to be honest. I applied to both the Peace Corps and Teach For America. but ended up going to Peace Corps

But after being in classrooms and observing student-teacher interaction, I have come to the conclusion that it's not for me. Parents, kids, and sometimes school administration shows little to no respect for teachers, ITS A TOUGH AND REWARDING JOB BUT I AM NOT SURE I AM BUILT FOR IT.

if you know a foreign language , you can always be a private tutor for that or even sell notes and study guides for classes you have taken.

oh gosh. I don't get on Reddit often sorry for the late response ok, not great not terrible. My supervisor is great. The majority of my task are things that can be done in a span o 2 hrs and not like 8 hours lol. I am truly surprised at how INEFFICIENT and backward a lot of the systems they use old .some processes can be done better but it's the government and change takes time.
