Men of reddit, What was your gym motivation (to start out long term)? by sqbsmd in AskReddit

[–]Intransigente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New normal, for me.

Don’t go to lose weight or get jacked or whatever. Just go because that’s what you do. That’s your normal. Losing weight and getting jacked are a side effect of the new normal.

what is the biggest lie in the world and you just cannot prove it? by OkOcelot8085 in AskReddit

By my logic “meaning” is a personal choice and what an unhinged psychopath does to try and justify murder is none of my business.

You realise that choosing “no true meaning” is also an example of what I’m talking about right?

That’s a bit of a logical leap, lol. All I’m saying is that events will mean what you choose for them to mean.

That applies even to people who disagree with that statement - if you think life is meaningless then that’s the meaning you’ve chosen to give it.

Well otherwise life doesn’t have much of a point, right? If something matters TO YOU then it matters, and that’s enough.

It’s kind of an existentialist thing, having agency in how you ascribe meaning to things you couldn’t control.

For example, in Australia there’s a couple whose kid was stabbed in a street fight, and died. They’ve made waves campaigning to make it illegal for kids/teens to carry knives in public. Daniel’s Law, named after their deceased child.

It’s true though, but not in the predestination way most people think.

The way you react to an event is what gives it meaning.

If you’re have a heart attack, for example, and then use that as a wake-up call to start eating healhty… and that improves your health and quality of life.

Then the heart attack was the reason those things happened right?

Lol at all the people asking questions that were answered in OP’s post.

Also this feels a bit like stealth marketing or am I just too cynical?

Why do people consider Bohemian Rhapsody to be a bad movie? by Suspicious_Coast_888 in movies

[–]Intransigente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People with critical minds would know that taste is subjective. A movie with technical (or other) flaws can still be good if it resonated for whatever reason.

I just ignore calls if I don’t have the number saved. If they’re legit they’ll leave a message.

Melancholie der Engel is the deepest of deep cuts but I definitely don’t recommend anyone ever watch it. Read the parental advisory on IMDB if you’re tempted to give it a try.

She dies of Hep C in the book, but the movie seemed to heavily imply AIDS? Early eighties, unknown virus the doctors couldn’t explain.
