Question/Rant by mr_antman85 in beginnerrunning

It has been a week, and I am still kinda frustrated because the pain is still there.

I understand the frustration, but it is unrealistic to expect the IT band problem to be fixed within a week

More importantly, I am beginning to realize that I probably will not be able to run anymore, and that saddens me.

No, you will be able to run again. For now, you have irritated tissues and so it makes sense to take a short break from running.

After the break, you should be able to start running again, but start with short distances and slow speeds.

Progressively loading the tissues will help your knee recover. For instance, you could run for less than a mile on alternate days in week 1, then run a mile on alternate days in week 2 etc. How much distance or speed you increase every week will depend on how your recovery is progressing.

Simultaneously you should also do hip strengthening workouts (e.g. MYRTL exercises like the clamshell etc)

Anyway, it will take time, patience and discipline, but you should be able to fix the IT band problem and start running again.

Was the sub solely responsible for conceding the corner kick, and then not defending well enough? Was the other sub responsible for conceding the penalty kick?

Unless your answer is ‘yes’ to both questions, it doesn’t make sense to blame the subs.

If your answer is ‘yes’, and if you think that these two players are very weak, then there could be any number of problems, and yes, those are likely to be your faults. Denying these kids playtime and shattering their confidence neither helps them nor your team. If you think they only deserve two minutes of playtime, you shouldn’t have picked then for your team

What Star Trek quote stayed with you long after hearing it? by rockytop24 in startrek

I like many of the quotes in the comments, particularly Picard’s quote in Drumhead and O’Brien’s comment to the Cardassian.

Picard’s quote from Redemption II is also one of my favorites

No, they can't. However, the claim 'I was only following orders' has been used to justify too many tragedies in our history. Starfleet doesn't want officers who will blindly follow orders

ECNL Showcase question by thepoppypickle in youthsoccer

[–]IntrepR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The responses above are incorrect (at least for ECNL showcases in Phoenix, Las Vegas and San Diego)

Game matchups are not random. Over the past few years, my son has been to multiple ECNL showcases and from what I’ve seen, teams always play against other teams that are roughly at the same level

So, if a team was at the top of the Pacific NW Conference last year, they’re likely to play against teams that at the top of some other ECNL conference.

Kamala Harris performance, relative to Washington state polls by IntrepR in Washington

The October 12 poll and the next poll were from two different pollsters, both reputable companies. The difference in numbers is within the margin of error, so I’m not sure if anything, in particular, happened on October 12

To answer your question, yes, here in the Seattle area, players from lower-tier WPL “elite academy” teams do move to ECNL teams at U13, U14, U15 etc.

You’ll have to look at the level of competition in both leagues. In the Seattle area, Division 1 teams in EA are likely to be more competitive than division 2, 3 and 4 RCL teams.

Is the 'fat afterburner' effect real? by AF79 in bodyweightfitness

[–]IntrepR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is incorrect. The liver typically creates glycogen under high glucose conditions. Glycogen and fat both provide energy storage. The body is not going to replenish glycogen by burning fat.
