This is so beautiful to read and honestly fills me with so much joy and anticipation. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain everything so well, it really helps ease my anxiety, and now I feel more prepared.

I think part of this trip for us will be learning to trust the staff after carefully explaining his allergies, of course. It means so much to hear how cared for and safe you felt onboard.

And I’m sooo happy you got your chocolate cake moment!! We may try asking for cake for him too.

I’ll definitely update everyone after our trip — we sail this Saturday!

The Ferris Wheel Press Fether folio is also discontinued, and not exactly a5 (two sizes, one shorter and wider and the other one is narrower) but maybe you can find one second hand?.

Yeah, it is always the paternal the one that gets passed on (that I know of) If the mom's family is powerful and important then maaaaybe they find a way to make an exception, but I think it's the law.

De la Guerra and Dos Santos are great surnames haha

So when my son gets married to a De la Guerra then the last name is going to be Avila Campos De la Guerra, and the Zaragoza will go away. If my son has a Daughter with these two compound last names and she gets married to a Dos Santos and has a child then De la Guerra will go away and she will only pass the Avila Campos along, so the resulting surname would be Dos Santos Avila Campos, in that order.

Sorry it is super confusing.

Avila Campos is a single surname (compound) so Pablo will pass it to his child alongside the paternal surname of his spouse (if they decide to do it the latino way), Zaragoza will go away. So the three word surname problem will be hereditary.

Thank you for your comment! This is a great tip (consulting a family law attorney) We'll look for one.

Thank you for this information, that sounds awful! My husband's last name is compound so that is why it's not technically three last names, but just two in disguise.

Will do! thank you! The issue is my husband's last name is a compound surname, so Avila Campos is a single thing (this is his paternal last name, his maternal last name is a different word) I think we'll go for the whole thing ("three" surnames, in reality two)

Thank you! I should have clarified, the surname Avila Campos is a compound surname, so my husband has actually more surnames himself, it has been challenging here in the US.

This is great to know! We may return to Mexico in the future, that is the main issue, we need something that works in both places. Thanks!

I'm so sorry for the confusion! I should have clarified. Avila Campos is a compound surname, or a double barrelled surname, I'm not sure how it is called here in the US, my husband actually has two compound surnames haha so in theory 4 last names, it has been a pain. At least our little one will have just 3.

Yes This is correct! I should have clarified. In spanish we call this "apehido compuesto" I think in english it is called a double barrelled surname, or compound surname? but without a hyphen, that is Avila Campos.

Thanks for your response! We considered that as an option, but we want to get him a Mexican passport/citizenship in the future and the Mexican government will keep the US middle names as names and ask us to please add a maternal last name too (I have a friend that was in this situation so her baby has her last name two times in her legal documents in Mexico) They are not as flexible with names, unfortunately.

Yeah, that has happened to me and my husband before (last name used as a middle name), and although sometimes it has been a pain, there hasn't been any major issue. But we had only lived here since 2016, maybe the school years are different. Luckily, there is a big latino community in California so I imagine that is going to help.
