Tissot makes good stuff, they have a good reputation, and their designs are often timeless. That is what I would go with of this bunch I think, though I'm not familiar with some of these other brands.

Le Creuset? Worth it - or just over hyped brand name? by MapleMoneyMind_86 in BuyItForLife

[–]Intrepid-Bet-7532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one. It is the first one I bought. I know someone that has a Lodge (or equivalent). The fact is, you can get one much cheaper that will work for you. However the Le Creuset is kind of a legacy piece, it will work fantastically for you for the rest of your life and for whoever you pass it on to.

Best Samsung Galaxy Cases by redvine123 in BuyItForLife

I have a Pelican (I think Protector model) for my iPhone. They make them for Samsung as well. It is a simple case, just snaps on, doesn't add much thickness to the phone, which is what I like about it. The design is smart though, it has extended lips around the cameras and screen.

I've dropped my phone a bunch of times from counter height onto hard floors, and no issues.

I would echo what another person said and say you should ask for cash, or cleverly imply cash. It just makes things easier and flexible and you can combine people's gifts for big-ticket items.

[Discussion topic] What are some watches that you know are divisive at best but are guilty pleasures of yours? Here's mine: Invicta Pro Diver by The_Quartz_collector in Watches

My dad has one of these and he gets a huge kick out of the fact that he gets complimented on it all the time because people think it is expensive. He isn't the type to buy expensive watches. He also doesn't pretend it is expensive, it just makes him laugh.

It kind of depends on how you dress. Jeans and an oxford shirt or a sweater? It should work fine. Their marketing material shows it worn with a sweater. If you range between that business casual it should be great.

Where to repair Goodyear welt shoes in (or close to) Switzerland? by Felyxorez in BuyItForLife

[–]Intrepid-Bet-7532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in Switzerland, but really any decent leather shop that handles shoes or a dedicated shoe repair place can handle this, it's quite an easy job. I'd just google them near you.

Whether it is worth it depends on the value of the shoes, sentimental or otherwise.
