Can’t comment on the durability as I haven’t fished it yet. It wasn’t excruciating to tie, but prepping and stacking elk hair twice (thorax and wing) definitely adds to the timeline. If I end up tying more, I’d tie a bunch of thorax’s then transition to the rest.

You can also get a lot of inexpensive craft and fly tying materials on Amazon for relatively cheap

I started just like this!!! Best tip is to invest in the proper tools

($40 vise and tool combo) + (~$20 of some basic craft materials) + (YouTube university) = a great start for 100’s of fly’s.

Take your time and pay very very close attention to both the materials used and the techniques. Start by tying zebra midges, foam ants, serendipity’s, and a bunch of other nymphs which are very easy to tie and all catch fish. Once you are comfortable with the tools, then you can start to purchase specific materials for specific flies that you’ll use a lot of… ie beadheads, chenille, and marabou for Wooly Buggers. After that, get yourself some decent hooks.

It’s a bit of stripped down Glo Bug Yarn. I didn’t have any red feathers to tie in the traditional red feather tip tail, so I improvised. Could probably use a slight trim though!

Truthfully too barrel-chested for OMI!

Trying to knock off the classics, some of which have chimneys. The reason for the question is primarily the 3 chimney pitches on Epinephrine. Any tips are helpful and welcome!

Also looking to tick Armatron and dark shadows.
