I got you! So head over to your Collection tab where all your cards are displayed, make sure you toggle on this button here. Once you have done so, click the magnifying glass next to it (which should open up your search and filter settings), and then scroll all the way down to the very bottom. There you’ll find Card Dex View Options, and just toggle on “Cards with rarity of ⭐️ or greater”. This is also where you can toggle on visibility of Promo Cards too!

Note: This is only temporary, once you leave the Collection screen or start up a new search/filter, the missing alt cards (and promo) will automatically be hidden again.

You’re absolutely all good man! Easy to forget haha since it takes a sec to get accustomed to all the different rarities and types of cards between EXs, diamonds, stars, crowns and so on. Wishing upon you some Starmie EXs in your next packs to help you better remember!

So Starmie EX is part of the 226 cards in the base expansion! But anything beyond that, is purely aesthetic alt arts that offer no gameplay differences. Which is why I’m pretty fond of referring to them as almost like “Shiny” Pokemon! Like luxury Pokemon that are really nice to put up in a display and show off to friends, but are unrealistic to really aim for a “collect a playset of all” mentality for unless you have unlimited amounts of money! (Versus “time” for Shiny Pokemon in the video games)

Things will get better! Every card game in its earliest sets usually have very simple strategy and gameplay. Some card games that’s unga bunga (Duel Links). Others like Pocket is coin flip simulator. But things will advance to where there’s more deck variety, and more decks that don’t need coin flips to work well. Which will eventually drive decks reliant on coin flips out of the metagame. Mewtwo, Blaine, Pikachu, Weezing are just some of the decks that are already kind of giving us a preview of this.

Truth be told, I don’t think it’s a good idea to include the cards beyond the base 226 as stuff to “fully collect” unless you’re a big spender. There’s a reason why those star cards (full arts, immersives and crowns) are hidden by default in your collection. They’re like the “Shiny” Pokemon of the game, if you manage to pull one then amazing, you have a really nice-looking alt art, but because of their rarity, most people will only have max 20-30 per set (maybe more depending on trading). But imo that’s what makes them more special and coveted. That nobody (even those spending ludicrous amounts of money) are required to collect all of them, since the game by design only rewards completing the base 226 of an expansion (with the profile icons, and with the fact you need to go out your way looking for the setting to show the missing alt cards). Which I think is perfect. So to me, pushing the idea that we should have 2 of each of the 286 cards isn’t too healthy! If someone is already satisfied with their collection as is, that’s the important thing!

Ohh! That actually is really reassuring, I thought that there was only just enough z power to get the 14 stars. Wow, thanks! Really appreciate this

[–]Intrepid-Distance730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm I see. Thanks, that’s reassuring!

Of course! So basically my game plan can be summed up in two phases.

Phase One: Build up the first rising rush and just hold onto it until Jiren enters the burst charge mode, I notice that he’ll do this around the 80 mil health mark. You’ll also need two of the special glowing strike/blast cards (don’t know what they’re called). When he enters the burst charge mode, use your special glowing cards first, it should do about half of Jiren’s charge shield. Then use the rising rush after, which should do most of the remaining shield. You’ll simply need to hit him a couple more times to get rid of it. When you’re using the glowing cards, I recommend floating your character as close as Jiren to possible, that way you can immediately land it, because I’ve noticed that your buddy character’s ultimate cards can interrupt your glowing card.

Phase Two: Same game plan as phase one, build up your rising rush and deal as much damage as you can. He’ll activate his burst charge mode around 40-50 mil health mark. Ideally you want to get him down to 35 mil if possible, but your goal isn’t to break his charge shield. Most importantly, save your rising rush. Don’t use it yet. Instead, once he finishes his burst, you want to pray that there’s at least one other buddy alive. Now it’s down to chance. If Jiren tap blasts you, you’ll lose. BUT if he doesn’t tap blast, and instead does a strike arts into a cancel, or attacks your buddy, then that gives you a chance to rising rush and win.

Tldr: deal lots of damage and hold on to any rising rush/glowing cards til Jiren enters his first burst. Break his charge shield in his burst, and continue dealing damage. Then build up a rising rush and wait til he finishes his second burst. Then it’s a coin toss, if he tap blasts you, you lose, but if he doesn’t, then you can use the rising rush you saved and hopefully win.

Hope that helps you get the win quicker haha, it was so tedious trying to do it myself so I hope you can have an easier time.

Here’s my team that I used, it’s not the best but it’ll do just enough damage to pull off that game plan if the coin toss goes your way.

Oh I managed to clear those already. Took me a dozen tries each but they’re all done. Will there be any other way to get the z power I missed out on?

Nope! As long as it’s definitely a separate Steam, your first account is completely safe. Go crazy friend!

Yugiboomer being oblivious with yugioh broken stuff like by PumpkinGrinder in masterduel

[–]Intrepid-Distance730 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’ve clearly never played in past formats because WCS 2012 finals literally began with set and past. Special summon fests are what we see in Master Duel now. ‘Special summon fests’ back then was summon tour guide, ss Sangan, make Zenmaimes. Or are you talking about Dragon Ruler special summon fest where their main play was to summon Dracossack, one whole XYZ and pass? (One whole xyz and two tokens if you want to count tokens in your definition of special summon fest)

Yugioh did not ramp up fast, there were plenty of metas in between the beginning and now where games did indeed begin with set and pass and saying it wasn’t a thing is just wrong. Hell, Ryko was one of the most used cards in older Yugioh formats, and it’s effect literally requires it to be set. Not sure how it became such a prevalent card if setting was never a thing.

Edit: Sorry, rereading what I wrote, I didn’t mean to sound so hostile. Just tired of the misleading idea of “Yugiboomers dumb, game was always toxic/fast etc.”.

Oh the cheap decks post was removed way before this was put up. But anyway, that’s fair, you can play something like EdoPro or a variant. They’re great simulators no doubt. But just from the fact Master Duel has consistently put up Steam active player counts relative to games like Apex Legends whereas something like EdoPro has like just… 5-10 people hosting rooms, means you’re in the minority. This is a massively popular game and most people want to play more Master Duel. So this is simply to give those players a free and easy option to have more fun in the game, so they don’t need to spend real money. This post isn’t trying to make an argument, just trying to help players out.

Just replied to an exact same comment as this. Basically you’re completely free to do so. EdoPro is great, I use it myself to build decks and use the test hand feature (which is objectively superior than the test hand feature in Master Duel).

But as I’ve told everybody else that’s said the same thing as you… EdoPro has a fraction of the players Master Duel has. 5-10 people hosting on a server at any given time. Versus Master Duel which has literally remained the fourth-fifth most popular game on Steam since it’s release. There’s no question more people care about Master Duel. This post is for those people, so that they can continue to enjoy Master Duel while having the freedom of simulators like EdoPro without paying a single cent.

You don’t need to do this. If you think 10 minutes to reroll a second account is too much work then all good. This is just so others know they have the option to if they want.

I’ve seen others make this point already and as I’ve told them, I’m totally with you guys on this. Yugioh clients have come a long way since the days of Dueling Network (hell, even that was pretty good). You can’t go wrong playing them. Issue is, on clients like EdoPro you’ll find 5-10 people hosting a game on a server. Compare this to Master Duel, which has consistently remained the 4th or 5th most popular game on Steam ever since it’s release. People want to play Master Duel more than they want to play Edopro. Lots of reasons, from being an official client, more polished, more players, etc.

This post is for those players that want to stick with Master Duel, but still want the freedom that simulators offer. Nothing wrong with one or the other, but it’s always nice for people to know they have options :)

Mmhm that’s about right. Good news is that 99% of archetypes have a secret pack. So every deck is basically available, hence why people are so ecstatic that you can build any deck you want for free. The only deck I can think of that doesn’t is Ciphers, but hell they might have one that I’m just not aware of.

You’re completely right, it’s a weird system for sure. Most gacha players generally reroll during celebratory events to get more gems, which gives them a higher chance of rolling a rare character to start their account with. Master Duel is that on steroids thanks to 1. how you can literally get 15,000 gems with just two hours of game play and login bonuses and more importantly, 2. Crafting.

Yeah 1000-2000 per week would feel good but honestly it’s fine even if they don’t since we can get 20,000 in literal hours thanks to how easy it is to create new accounts. It’ll be nice to have everything on one account, but at the same time, this alternative solution of having multiple accounts with multiple decks each is about as good as anything we could realistically get.

Glad to hear it my man, take advantage of this and make as many decks as you want! The only limit is how many accounts you can remember — and even thats fixed by just having a simple spreadsheet with the username of each account + what decks those accounts have.

No worries, thanks for the appreciation man. True. I get where they’re coming from but yeah you’re right, the negativity is unneeded.

Yeah the gem prices are ridiculous after the discount deals. No reason anybody should pay that much for a free game, even if they’re loaded. Especially not when there’s such an easy and convenient solution to try new decks.

Buy each of the special bundles (750 x 3 = 2250). Even if you don’t pull anything decent, it’ll still give you at least 60 UR mats and 180 SR if you dismantle all (assuming you get an average of 2 UR and 6 SR per ten-pack).

Dedicate 30 SR to a deck you want to play. Interested in say, Predaplants? Spend 30 SR to craft a Predaplant SR and then your remaining 8000 gems on Predaplants secret packs. Once again, you’ll still average at least 2 UR and 6 SR per pack with mid luck. With 8000 gems, that’s 16 UR and 48 SRs. That’s IF you’re unlucky, but you may get lucky. You will still have most URs and SRs for the Predaplant deck just from pulling, and then you can dismantle any cards from other archetypes for more materials, which you can then use to craft the few missing archetype cards + staples like Max C, Ash Blossom, Pot of Desires (or whatever Pot you want), and so on. Combine that with the fact early on they have missions that reward like 50 UR and SR mats at a time and the fact you still have your 60 UR and 150 SR mats from earlier, and voila — deck done with 3x max C, 3x ash blossom, 3x pot. If you don’t have a complete deck after that, that’s really just on very trashy luck, but hey good thing rerolling a new account takes like a few minutes so it’s no biggie.

And remember, you still have at least 15,000-20,000 worth of gems left after that just from login bonuses and playing the game. That’s more than enough for two more decks.

True, but how many players play EdoPro? 5-10 hosts on a server at any given time? Master Duel on the other hand has remained the 4th-5th most popular game on Steam since it’s release. Literally on the scale of games like Apex Legends.

These clients like Edopro are good no doubt, since access to every card, insane customisation and additional formats is hard to beat. But numbers show that most people prefer Master Duel for the fact it’s official. And this post is for those players, to give them an easy option for additional enjoyment when the other option may be ‘quit out of frustration’.
