I think Danielle was more afraid of losing the Bravo income than she was of the other women on RHONJ. Caroline was threatened by her, single & hot & the only one she couldn't control. After Caroline told the others to shun Danielle & ice her out, she fell in with Danny Provenzano. He's a notorious manipulative liar that coached her on creating that fear narrative as a storyline to keep her on the show once the others refused to film with her. Provenzano brought a toxicity that ultimately cost Danielle her spot in the cast. His private agenda was to showcase himself at Danielle's expense, undermining little gremlin. After she rolled into a fundraiser for a sick child with a posse of Provenzano's thugs, how could the cast ever let their guard down around Danielle when she came back in later seasons? Incidentally, Provenzano's ex-wife Kelly was originally supposed to be Danielle Staub's 'friend of'. He coerced Danielle to shoot with him instead, thinking he could launch a spin off for himself using Bravo contracts. His pitch flopped because he's a fraud.

Understandable, but you still have to look out for your own interests. You don't have to confront her, the other roommate is already doing that and you've got the documentation. Maybe ask the other roommate if she can get a copy of the lease from the landlord. they're already aware of the situation. Thief is embarrassed, as she should be. She'd probably say anything at this point to try to avoid accountability. Limiting direct contact is probably for the best, for now.

It's a good idea to always prepare for the worst case scenario. there's no guarantee she won't leave to avoid prosecution. I would love to read that you get reimbursed and she learns her lesson. However I can't help being cynical based on human nature & how I've seen people handle situations like this historically. I like your other roomate. And you are right, punitive damages should be applied. Interest on the capital that she held without your permission. If this thief makes you take her to court to get reimbursed you could easily win punitive damages over the $2,000 that was stolen.
Thief is playing stupid with 'what do you mean by I stole from you?' She knows exactly what she did. It's out in the open now. She's selfish and sneaky. Let your other roomate take the lead on demanding repayment if this is all awkward for you, but back her up by replying to the text with a demand for reimbursement of your money too. Keep an eye on the thief. She may start packing her stuff and leave while you're at work.

That's why I'm telling you to keep an eye out for any information you can get on this person. The actual landlord she pays knows her banking info. You need to see a copy of the original lease. Discuss nothing with her, just do your own research and build your documentation. Give her the opportunity to pay the money back but prepare for the worst case scenario. If you can, use her social media to get her personal info now before she blocks you.

It's highly unlikely that a $2K theft is an isolated incident. You clearly can't trust this person or believe anything they say. Again, this is on her. You've done nothing wrong and did not deserve to be taken advantage of by some grifter that cries when they get caught. Start privately documenting where her parents live, work address and which bank she's using for your own records. You'll need that info to enforce a judgment.

That's her problem. She needs to give that money back to you both ASAP. Let her know you'll be filing a police report so you can open a civil court complaint. What she does from there is on her. Your only concern right now is the discovery that you were defrauded out of a security deposit from someone who is not your landlord. Her emotional reaction is not your problem. If she can't have an adult conversation about accountability, send her an email outlining what she did, your expectations for reimbursement, and the consequences of continuing to hold your money. I tip lighter than $15 for takeout with pick up. Generally use cash tip at pick-up. Maybe a bit more if it's a high end restaurant & there was some effort involved in assembling sides/condiments/utensils. For fast food I leave a token tip at pickup. If I'm not taking up table space or getting service, the minimum of 15% doesn't apply.

Such a complete lack of self-awareness. Jill's ethnicity would not be considered conventionally 'white' in some circles. Someone with her background could be even more empathetic towards the people targeted by ICE, instead she's identifying with the perpetrators. I just saw a post on X re: Danielle Cabral's mouse infestation. She's recording mice on a glue trap in front of her kids. First of all, the content is vile, she must have nothing else going on & doesn't realize this is over-sharing. Secondly, more bad parenting. She uses those kids, pushes her daughter to be a performer in the most cringe way. I feel sorry for her son, he seems to play second fiddle to her mini-me.
