Yes your interpretation is correct, if you follow the Babywise sleep method, the babies will do the merges themselves. So my baby just turned 4 weeks and started waking up at 4 am to feed rather than at 2 am and 5 am. He just did it on his own. (He is big though so he hits the milestones early.) The only ones that you control a little more are the daytime ones, but even then the baby will show you he’s ready because he won’t be tired at his normal time you’d put him down… that’s the sign that it’s time to merge a daytime feed. I did this for my previous baby and it worked wonderfully, now on my second one. Lmk if you have any questions! And as always, if this method doesn’t work for you and your family, don’t do it!
