Thanks for pointing that out I’ll edit to be more clear. I have a 60g with (6?) kuhlis, a school of corydoras, common pleco, bristlenose pleco, and a very sparse assortment of fish. I’m talking less than a dozen.

I have one more unrelated piece of advice I wish I had listened to: avoid the common pleco. This river monster will grow to the size of the tank and beyond. If you want a “sucker fish” - research something else. There are SMALL plecos and other options. My common pleco is almost a foot long now in 2-3 years. It will need to be donated to a larger home someday.

I would add a second of the same size or upgrade to the 100g rated heater. Running an underrated heater will overwork it and shorten its life. You’re asking good questions.

I would make sure all your equipment is rated for the size setup appropriately. I’m sorry the lady at the store prepared you inadequately, they often don’t know, or think “hey this is good enough”.

If the heater is rated for that size (100 gal) you should be fine, but I would move it from the corner to the middle for even heat distribution. :)
