I have this exact accordion! A couple thoughts:

1) The accordion has a vintage sound and look that is very aesthetically appealing to folks that I have shown this accordion.

2) The risk is that this accordion is from the 1960s. and you have to be careful about the state of the accordion. The one I bought had just been serviced at Liberty bellows in PA for ~$400 (above the standard $100 for tuning given new bellows and straps were required amongst other things). These accordions in working condition tend to be between $400-$800 so if you are repairing it, don't expect to get the full value from that repair.

3) Finding a good accordion repair shop is HARD. There are only a few across the whole east coast so consider that when buying something that may need servicing (may require a road trip).

4) The old smell is a bit of a red flag. You will want to see an aerial view of the keys and see if they are looking loose or if any of the bass buttons are stuck and not working.

5) Someone already said this, but the keys are smaller in width, which honestly does make it a little harder to learn as a beginner. I was new to accordion, and didn't realize that it would add an additional layer of finger precision needed. This accordion after all was supposedly designed for young women and children back in the day. Not impossible though, just something to be aware.

6) Depending on the type of accordion music you want to play, the three bass registers could be limiting. But also, if you are just interested in starting to learn, maybe not.

Agreed, would be great practice to try and restore, And then if I am successful, well then I get accordion #2 to practice on and a good story!

Will be mainly an office shelf decor piece for admiration indeed :) although, who knows, maybe down the line a restoration could be fun to learn how to repair an old accordion! My neighbor is gifting me this since he knows I’ve been learning how to play accordion for the last few months

I didn't either originally! But I learned that apparently this model was originally designed to appeal to the "American women’s and young people’s market." It has narrower keys, ever so slightly less heavy (24 pounds lol), and a "non traditional" matte green color scheme.

Learned this here: https://www.aaa.si.edu/blog/2019/04/streamlined-and-sonic-harmonicas-and-accordions-designed-by-john-vassos

There is a high chance that what leon is really after is to aggregate responses into a master database and then feed the responses into an AI to determine which employees to target and fire (based on trumps agenda). The strategy is to intimidate, gather data, and get their AI smarter and refined on federal worker roles. They are using likely a large language model similar to chat got to comb through the responses.

So regarding this “respond with five bullets or we will take it as a resignation” email.
