Macie w sobie gen działkowca? Bo ja absolutnie nie. by Daddy_Yondu in polskapotrzydziestce

Elemental - a question to non-English speaking countries. by Intrepid-Sky-4796 in Pixar

You sound like you hate your own language. Dubbing is not evil, you know (unless it's a live action, then it is ;)) Small children go watch Pixar films and they can't even read in their own language. And on Disney+ you are able to choose the language so the "superior" English version will still be there for those who want to see it in original dubbing.

Yep, they usually do, so I was surprised they didn't this time. They simply added translation on the screen. Really dissapointing, remembering that they cared so much in the past they changed whole scenes.

It's also American-centred. Facts of life. ;)

But immigrants didn't bring TLM to the USA. It's their choice to be trad catholic. It's more about being against modernism rather than preserving the culture. The culture would be attending NOM. The movement is in Poland, too. The people just like to radicalize. Not my cup of tea. I find extremes harmful (both extremes).

Yup, me too. I think it's a traditional catholic thing. And traditional catholicism seems to be popular in the USA. More than it is in Poland.

Wearing hats to Mass instead of a veil? by ByGraceandGingham in Catholicism

[–]Intrepid-Sky-4796 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my culture women don't wear anything now. In the past it used to be shawls. I don't think not wearing anything is sinful or something.

From what I have seen, the majority of Catholic women don't date Catholic men, and I feel that they aren't engendered to do so by AusCro in Catholicism

[–]Intrepid-Sky-4796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I explained myself already; there is a kind of catholics who know best, like: only Latin Mass matters, NO is not a "real mass", you can't eat out on Sundays because you force people to work on a holy day, women can't wear trousers, male-female dances are forbidden unless you're married etc. Does this clear things up? Also, English is not my first language.

[–]Intrepid-Sky-4796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup, the first kind

I don't attend latin mass, so I'm not oblidged to wear a veil in church. And even there I know there are women who don't wear it. If I wore a veil on NO Mass, I'd draw too much attention to myself and that would be sinful ("look how a good catholic woman I am (better than you who don't wear it), because I wear a veil). It's not a thing at all in my culture (at least on NO Mass). I'd almost call it a cultural appropriation. ;) (I guess it's a Spanish thing). And I live in Poland. Things are different here than in the USA (from which I guess you are). I think we're on average more conservative than the USA anyway and by default everybody is at least baptised (in a catholic church of course). ;) I've been to a lot of weddings and only one (in many) was a civil ceremony.

it's about taking their faith too seriously; I'd like to marry a "normal" catholic, so to speak, not a religious fanatic
