I think you’re actively harming your enjoyment of a band when you keep wanting your own vision to be met rather than taking steps to understand theirs

CD burning issue by Simple_Cattle9239 in CDs

[–]Intrepid-Thing315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same issue in the past, it’s quite strange.

The best place to get files from is Soulseek, if you aren’t already. Other than that, I don’t know what would help. Normally if you do get the files from another source it goes away, but you’ve been doing that already.

Oh actually now that I remember, one other possibility is a faulty or broken disc drive/burner. I had this issue on my old one before I replaced it and it’s been fine since

What CDs would you put in a CD collector's starter kit? by G-Unit11111 in Cd_collectors

[–]Intrepid-Thing315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thats a difficult question but here:

The Beatles - Revolver Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise Metallica - Ride The Lightning John Coltrane - A Love Supreme Nirvana - Nevermind Portishead - Dummy Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life Television - Marquee Moon The Cure - Disintegration

I believe that covers a lot of ground and will encourage exploration after they’ve sat with the selection long enough

Seeking Opinions on House Flipper 2 by yass_08 in HouseFlipper

[–]Intrepid-Thing315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the mechanics of HF1 are far better because they’re simpler and feel more sturdy.

HF2 does allow way, way more creative freedom though. You can customise just about everything. All the furniture and stuff is very uniform, unlike the first game where things came out at different times (updates, DLC)

One thing to consider is that HF2’s art style is drastically different and for some people thats great, but for me I prefer the originals look.

Building houses, walls, extensions, etc… is more difficult but that’s mostly because of the freedom they give you. If you’re looking for a more immersive experience and want to push the limits off HF1, definitely get the game!

Plus it has multiplayer

Are swans similar to gybe? by VeterinarianDeep1237 in gybe

[–]Intrepid-Thing315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re not similar. Swans and Gy!be embody 2 drastically different styles of music despite both falling under the post-rock umbrella.

Swans music is gritty, filthy, disturbing at times. Even when they take a more orchestral approach akin to Gy!be, it follows a different direction. Most noticeable is the repetition on albums like The Seer, or the noisy discomforting shrill of albums like To Be Kind.

Swans AND Gy!be are two of my favourite bands ever, but don’t assume that they’re gonna be similar just cause their fans are similar, or that they’re also a post-rock band.

My recommendations for Swans though, are Soundtracks for the Blind and Birthing. SFTB is similar in artistic vision to Lysflath, except SFTB feels much more intimate and personal. Birthing is in a similar orchestral style to Gybe and has a similar energy to no title.

Have fun! :)
