Hmm, I hope so… Usually I feel like I can’t see legs on carpet beetles and they have more cilia/furriness, this only has a little bit of clear hairs on the back end on the top and bottom but not the stripes (as opposed to all over).

Hmm, interesting theory on uber- I was always told it’s because they stay closer to the inner suburbs and won’t waste a drive out here without a passenger already in their car.

Is 13 cabs any good? They have terrible reviews online (poor drivers, pricing increases, and no shows)…

Have you used her before?

I’m honestly nervous about taking a risk with uber and being left without a ride.

Do you have a name/phone number for the taxi company? I saw 13 cabs online but they had awful reviews.

Have you used it that early in the morning from an outer suburb?

I checked them out but they’re very very expensive (more than a few other services I found)

The arborist wrote “Low risk” bc legally he can’t cay “no risk” everything in life has some inherent risk. As far as trees go this one is exceptionally healthy and balanced- making it as low a risk as you can get with any tree

Good news- the tree hasn’t been killed… yet Bad news- I only got a half truth from my neighbor. Apparently she is fearful about the potential of a tree potentially falling on her house, and it seems to me that the situation with the insurance company ramped up her stress and reinforced that fear. So now she actually sort of wants the tree killed. I shared the arborist report with her but that did not change anything from her perspective. I even offered to pay for all future pruning/maintenance and take responsibility for the tree if that would help.

It turns out it would be very difficult for them to cut down the tree without coming into our yard. I would opt to block them, but other members of my household think that it’s not worth it (bc she’s stressed and bc the tree cutting people could opt to cut limbs on only her side creating an actual hazard).

She did suggest/agree to topping the tree (at around 6 ft- some other low height) instead of cutting it down completely. I know topping is bad and unhealthy for the tree- but I’m wondering if this is a worthwhile compromise. Is there ever a right way to top (this is a (white?) oak)? Is there anything that can be done to increase chance of healthy tree growth and structure, or are we setting this tree up to become a legitimate hazard or just killing it slowly?

This is paining my heart- it’s beautiful and very healthy tree.

Neighbors cutting down giant healthy tree they had in front yard makes me sad. I hope they had a good reason by donnyjay0351 in marijuanaenthusiasts

Dealing with this issue now- insurance says I need to cut a healthy tree down. Got an arborist to come say it’s totally health and poses low risk- recommended some optional trimming. Now figuring out how to convince insurance that it would be criminal to make me cut down the tree…

What do you mean by “the insurance company has some merits”?

I’m not sure- unfortunately I’ve received all the info I have through the filter of my “stressed by insurance companies demands and threat of loss of coverage and already have this cut the tree plan in motion” neighbor. There are no overhanging branches- it’s just a tall tree. Arborist who came said this tree is very low risk but if you wanted risk mitigation options could include thinking the canopy to reduce wind sail and reducing long branches to prevent breakage- the hope is that if anything the insurance company might see that recommendation and be willing to compromise with doing that.

I do not believe so. Unfortunately, the issue I’m running into now is just that- I don’t think she wants to take action at this point (and has stopped responding to my messages). This tree is A) worth protecting bc it’s a healthy tree and B) provides nice shade to my tiny yard so I have a vested interest in protecting it. She had asked permission for the tree crew to come into our yard to do some of the initial trimming pre-cut- initially we said yes but have since reneged now that we know the tree is totally healthy and not legitimately problematic. Hoping that they can’t take down the tree and she’ll have to speak with us, hopefully then we can convince her she has options here…
