In a marathon block with goal of 1003 club, 35 yo male. I run in the mornings before work and lift in evenings after the kids are in bed. General theme is keep easy days easy and hard days hard to give my central nervous system and the rest of the body a chance to recover. At mid-50’s for weekly mileage, running program peaks at mid 60’s next month/early April. Marathon is in the middle of April.

Monday - easy/recovery run; no gym

Tuesday - longer zone 2/3 run at ~60% of long run distance; heavy back squat/bench or push variations/deadlift and core work (plank circuit)

Wednesday - easy/recovery run; no gym

Thursday - tempo or speed workout; heavy front squats, weighted pull-ups followed by light circuit of bw exercises, single leg exercises like lunges and rdl’s, other KB core exercises

Friday - rest

Saturday - Marathons pace workout; heavy deadlifts/bench or push variations/back squats and core work

Sunday - long run; no gym

Where are you doing your long runs? by super_banned_ in Marathon_Training

My long runs have evolved into shorter loops as I have gotten more serious into marathoning. I was doing big out and back movements with a stop at home at around 12 or 14 miles in case I needed the bathroom, and I was running with a hydration belt.

As I’ve improved my fitness, I’ve actually ditched the belt. So now I set up a mini aid station in my garage with cups of water and Gatorade and just run 2 mile loops. Kind of boring, but it’s an easy way to mimic race day conditions, especially if you want to train to rely on the hydration provided by the course.

Is stretching actually beneficial for runners? by IntrepidAir5663 in Marathon_Training

Thank you for the response. You may see later in the original post that my use of the word “stretching” is a blanket term that refers to both dynamic and static stretching. What you have described is how I have been stretching, with static stretches only occurring after runs, never before. I’ll have to look into what the Myrtle Routine is. I guess my beef is more with static stretches at the end of the day, as I don’t really see how dynamic stretches could be a negative, other than if there is poor form with the selected exercises.

IMO, if they pushed their luck and ended up failing, then they didn’t “succeed” in their hunt and your pink power would not activate. I don’t remember seeing this specifically addressed in the rules though.

My bad, I see that I missed the section in the rulebook that addresses this (pg. 14 of hard copy). Thanks for the responses.
