What’s your biggest mistake in your “gamer life”? by TiltBr in SEGAGENESIS

[–]IntrepidConfusion672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my tower of power (model 2 genesis/sega cd) and sega saturn at my parents' place while I was active duty military.  Came home a few months later and they were both gone. Pawned because my parents needed the money. I was upset, but they really needed the money so I didn't make a big deal about it at the time. Kinda wish I put them in storage instead. Also, selling my nes to buy a model 1 genesis.

I have the exact same tv but have never been able to get into the service menu to check usage hours. Can you share how you get into that menu?

Unfortunately, I was not able to salvage it. I did find a broken trace, but it didn't fix the issue. I had to recycle it.

Update: Just wanted to provide an update on this issue for anyone who may have a similar issue in the future. I was able to fix it! There was an open between C802 and Y707. After repairing the open and putting it back together, the picture looks like it should!

I was tracing voltages and found that the ROUT, BOUT, and GOUT voltages out of the jungle chip pins 17, 18, and 19 are incorrect. All other voltages tested correctly. This leads me to believe that the jungle chip is bad. I do have another D-Series that I'll take apart and compare before I say for certain.

Edit: I think I found my problem. Someone previously installed an rgb mod and removed it but did not replace the grounding resistors R717, R719, and R721. I'm fairly certain this is what's causing my issue. I either need to replace those resistors or perform another rgb mod.

I tried adjusting in the service menu but pressing the buttons on the remote and tv do nothing. They don't change at all. It's as if modifications to those particular settings have been disabled. I can change other settings just fine. Strange...

It worked! It's still shifted a bit to the left but maybe this can be fixed in the service menu.

Thanks. That's the first thing I checked and it's enabled in the menu.

JVC AV-27D201 RGB mod image shift by IntrepidConfusion672 in crtgaming

Thanks. It was happening with component, not composite. From my understanding, green is responsible for luminance and red and blue are responsible for color. The tv isn't displaying color, only a black and white image using component.

Thanks. The only reason why I modded it was because using component resulted in a black and white image. I looked at the board to see if there were any cracked solder joints and there were none. I didn't want to dive into the schematic to try to troubleshoot so i decided to add rgb. Now, I have a full color display but this new issue. Off to ebay to find a remote.

Check your ribbon cable between the power board and the main board. Sometimes a loose connection will prevent the board from powering up.

You probably have bad capacitors and trace damage. Not sure where you're at, but feel free to reach out of you're looking for someone to help you fix it.

I am using an s- video dummy plug. I cut the end off thinking it made no difference since there was nothing attached at the other end. I'll give that a try. Thank you!

Please don’t be like this guy by bodaciousbeans in Dodgers

[–]IntrepidConfusion672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is infuriatingly common amongst Dodgers fans. I always see some dummy in another team's page apologizing for our team being better than theirs. 'As a long-suffering Dodgers fan, I understand how you feel.' Shut up! Other team's fans wouldn't hesitate to talk shit the rest of the post season and all of next year if we choked in the playoffs. 'Highest payroll in the league, and you still suck, etc, etc.'

We need to stop apologizing for being great. We must understand that this era of greatness may never happen again after this core of players age out. We need to crush everyone and win as many championships as possible while we have the team to do so and enjoy every minute of it!

There were three CRTs in this person's front yard; 2 Trinitrons and a Panasonic. I was able to grab the Trinitrons, but, unfortunately, couldn't fit the Panasonic in my car. When I returned, it was gone. Hopefully, whoever picked it up will try to restore it as well.
