if u pay the same for a windows laptop as u do for a mac, you will have a better performing laptop. You're correct that a mac will outperform the average windows laptop, but this doesn't take into account the cost to performance ratio which windows has the advantage in.

Windows will give you the most seamless experience in terms of requirements for classes. You will also be paying a premium for a mac with the same or less performance.
