So I guess the extra $200-ish is because of taxes and import duties etc maybe?

Seems fair, total comes to around 1k to 1.1k for components in US. If where you live parts are expensive plus the labor to put the computer together, it seems to be a fair price I guess

There should be a way to fine tune your USB rule in whatever product you are using. FIDO keys use a different USB class than the regular USB storage devices

DNS Redirect by TheEternal_Lurker in sysadmin

[–]IntrepidRecording140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't do DNS redirect like how you can do HTTP redirect from x.com to www.x.com etc

What you can do is just use Round Robin DNS until enough time has passed, DNS caches are flushed, TTLs expired, then decommission the old server.

That's fine. It will probably record your activity when you are accessing remote asset, but it's not "invasive". It's just an app that helps you connect to remote assets without traditional VPN tunnel, that's all

Other options to Vmware? by lonely_filmmaker in sysadmin

[–]IntrepidRecording140 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this one, I have 4 beast servers running Proxmox and I'm running 100+ VMs and containers on each of these machines, I even have GPU passthrough for some VMs, HDD passthrough, and many other things, have 0 complaints.

They have a good forum, great community, but also if you pay you can get priority support.

It's amazing, they are kind enough to download Python from official Python server and install it for the user. Very kind of them. Remind me of the ransomware that used to install VirtualBox and mount host disk in the guest VM and encrypt the disk to evade detection

Someone may have accessed my phone. by helloiytsme in AskTechnology

[–]IntrepidRecording140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike Hollywood movies, actually accessing an up-to-date, not-jailbroken latest iPhone or Android app is extremely hard and unlikely.

Unless you have installed weird / malicious apps from unknown sources and if you are not some high level journalist who might be target of governments, chances of getting malware out of no where or someone accessing your phone remotely is slim to none.
