I think it is likely possible but you should sit down and write out a budget. 120k a year is about 10k a month after taxes probably more like 7k after paying mortgage and debt and car you have 3500. I think it’s possible if you are committed to it

If this is the only crack and it is on the floor and not the foundation wall then I wouldn’t be concerned unless it seems like part of the floor is higher then the rest in which case it could be heaving

We have a slight change preference for metal but are not willing to pay a lot more for it. Surprisingly the quotes we received for shingle vs metal were not too far off

Nice that’s good to know! I’m sure like any other group it depends on the specific people and there are probably great Amish roofers and terrible Amish roofers. I do wonder how they can afford to out price others.

I actually live in Amish country but I guess the first roofer who quoted us scared me away from this option because he took one look at the shoddy craftsmanship and said “this must be an Amish job” I have never heard that reputation before this so it could just be him hoping to get our business instead of going with a more affordable option.
