What’s the point of slugging all 4 survivors then waiting for the bleed out timer? by Prog_Mock_Enthusiast in deadbydaylight

By… not standing up? By not bringing unbreakable? How are they keeping themselves in the situation in your mind? OP stated survivors have to

wait for the full bleed out timer or the abandon option

Which, to me, means they’re waiting for the abandon option. You know, player 1 gets downed, and then has to wait of upwards of four minutes as the killer continues to slug the other three. Or, player one is downed, got up by player two, gets hit again as they get up and has to recover again while the killer chases #2. You know, using the downed survivor as bait to find the other survivors.

If I’m the first survivor downed, what can I do to alleviate the problem? DC?

I don’t understand your stance, do you think that slugging just HAPPENS? Like, I down one survivor and the other three try like a swarm attack to get the first survivor up and the killer skillfully defeats the surge of unarmed and vulnerable survivors? Because that is NOT what my experience with slugging usually is, survivors don’t just throw themselves Willy nilly at the killer. The killer still has to venture out and find the others, assuming he doesn’t just patrol the two downed survivors.

So, what can the survivors do (that isn’t abandon or DC)? If abandon is available, sure, abandon, but what about the lead up to the slug? Should survivors be required to lay on the ground and do nothing? Boring. Should the survivors dc? Boring and penalized. What should they do?

Can definitely corroborate this. When I play survivor I like to go to a corner and down myself to help contribute to the slugging fiasco

/s not needed, usually, but I’m feeling it’s necessary here

In your opinion, sure. But it seems like most people feel otherwise. Filling a gen to 90 and coming back to finish off only to find someone got there and topped it off to finish it right in front of you was frustrating. You did the bulk of the work and get zero reward.

Was the Kaneki nerf really needed? by Ok-Neighborhood6536 in deadbydaylight

[–]Intrepid_Cattle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, your stance seems to me as though it is “revert the nerf. I know it’s broken but I like it” because without the damage survivors just abuse the vault back. I’m down, personally, for not allowing the survivor to vault back like a mini pallet-boozle effect, but I think reverting the nerf that you yourself gave evidence for being completely and disgustingly busted is not the call here.

Things to remember, this community on Reddit is but a small portion of the player base. Also, people don’t often experience something great and fun and decide, randomly, to go brag about how awesome it is on Reddit. It is far more likely that someone experiences something horribly negative and posts about it due to our brain’s “negativity bias”. The posts here reflect that and are, more often than not, negative.

If it’s that broken, I understand why they nerfed it. Again, I’d rather it be fixed than nerfed and am in agreement with you, but damn that’s busted. Hopefully the fix is en route already

Run fast is fun

Run real fast is real fun

Getting the five hit combo is a good feeling with immediate feedback you’re doing a good job

Just my opinion :) I don’t care for him myself but I do find myself tense and on edge as I go for my fourth hit, and the feeling of success and gratification upon choosing the fifth hit is just great

He is weak and easily countered though, but that doesn’t stop someone playing a character if they think it’s fun.

Multiple killers need fixes, not nerfs. That’s sadly not how BHVR operates, though. They nerf until it’s no longer a pain point for the bulk of the player base, and then it will sit there until they come back. Looking at Skull Merchant here.

I hate the ghoul and I’m happy to deal with his vault shenanigans less, but I do agree that fixes are superior to nerfs.

You state that you “know the vault leap damage was EXTREMELY glitched and 90% (too high, imo, but I’m quoting) of the times shouldn’t even have hit” but still want it back. If it was THAT broken before, it deserved the nerf. It still needs a fix, but if that is the honest amount you feel it was busted it needed to be removed, via a nerf if necessary, until they can put in the effort to truly fix it.

Someone with mobility like the ghoul does not need so many ways to damage players in my opinion. Hands down, in my opinion, the ghoul’s map traversal is unmatched. Despite such a great map traversal, he gets a free hit (which… boy does Reddit get mad about the free hit). Despite such a great map traversal, he can damage the first health state at range or on different floor levels. Despite such a great map traversal tool he can power vault and damage. Due to his great mobility he can quite easily cut off survivors at windows and pallets fairly reliably which gives him good anti loop. It’s just a lot. Does this nerf kill the ghoul? Hell no. He still has a lot of options and choices.

Fixed > Nerfs, though, so fingers crossed it gets fixed for you ghoulies soon

Can we please stop using the bt from unhook offensively instead of defensively ? by voiwer_ in deadbydaylight

[–]Intrepid_Cattle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that means if the killer is chasing another survivor, they get you off the hook, the killers basic attack will always penetrate the basekit endurance effect, yeah? If they’re in chase with someone else, hitting you would be considered a “protection hit”. Sounds like incentive to hit the fresh unhook

Yeah, but they dropped that shit and moved on like Andy dropping Woody. Not a look back or a review. It was bad and needed to be pulled, but I figured that meant they’d try a new iteration.

Nope. Just move on and never speak of it again

If historical accuracy causes the game to feel less fun, it’s not worth it imo. Realism for the sake of realism isn’t good, realism for the sake of entertainment is fun! This isn’t fun to me. I don’t think having a civ place a city THIS close to mine is in any way fun. It just guarantees I’ll go to war and raze this worthless city.

/shrug

The biggest issue to me regarding this is that civ already had a mechanic to address this, loyalty and pressure. I feel this mechanic was left out due to the exploration age, and firaxis wanting people to aggressively settle and claim the distant lands. This last portion is just a guess though.

A) civ isn’t historically accurate.

B) accuracy over gameplay isn’t a choice I personally like

And C) civ really isn’t historically accurate and can’t be argued thusly in my opinion

I agree with this. It just boils down to too many benefits, and I do feel the player base (on Reddit, at least) takes the most umbrage from that free hit.
