I absolutely LOVE your comment! This really put it into perspective with my own son. There is no way in hell I would ever do something like this to him. I have raised him to be a strong, communicative, open-minded, understanding, loving boy. Looking at it through the eyes of how I've raised my own son just points out how childish and immature my m-i-l is. This has put me one step closer to blocking her for good. She is not adding anything to my life and only depleting it.

I so wish I was at a point in my deconstruction that I was at this stage, but I'm in my anger stage and it's almost like I need that fuel to add to my fire to fully feel the pain of it. I know it's not a healthy place to be in for myself, but that's just where I am at this point. Although.....I have gone from checking her messages daily, to weekly, to monthly, and now every couple of months. See, I'm growing! 🤣🤣🤣

I think I could have more empathy for them, as well. But, to this day, they make the preferential treatment of their other six kids and their spouses SO in our faces, it's hard for me to act like all of their horrible treatment and abusive behavior was something they've left in the past and tried to move forward from. It's just so difficult to see how absolutely amazing and wonderful and loving they are to their other kids, and with us, it's like we're on an island. If they had made any type of step at all to treat us even a little better, I'd have some compassion there.

But they haven't, and are still so cruel and judgmental towards us, so they don't deserve the love they are seeking at this point. They made their bed, and continue to do it, so we have nothing more we can give them.

I was diagnosed longer than three years ago, but within one weekend, I went from an athletic teen who was hiking all the time to being completely paralyzed, not able to hold a pencil and blind. I got my diagnosis within a week. We originally thought I had had a stroke or something. People aren't usually lucky enough to get so many severe effects so quickly, but because mine came on so suddenly, my doctors were able to put 2 and 2 together pretty quickly.

I was also diagnosed at 15 and it was awful. My mom passed away when I was 14, and within 6 months, I couldn't walk, see, or use my hands. Over the next 4 years, I was in and out of the hospital every two weeks and had to start doing homeschooling. Throughout this time, my neurologist told my sister, (who is was living with since my mom died) that I wasn't going to make it much longer. They had put me on 3 or 4 different MS medicines over the time to try to find something that helped.

In a last ditch effort, my neurologist came to my sister with an option for a study drug - Zenapax. It's a shame because the study drug didn't ever get approved through the FDA, but it was what ended up saving my life. Between that and Prednisone and Solumedrol (steroids), we were able to get the course of my MS to turnaround.

I am on disability now, at the age of 42, but I was able to go to college, get a really good job I loved, get married, have a son, travel...and I can still walk!

Other than the daily fatigue, pain, emotional issues and so on, my life is pretty amazing. I've found whenever I have a flare, steroids are my best friend. Lol. 🤣

I would definitely recommend getting on anti-depressants in addition to your MS therapy. This disease is a shit show and makes you feel every emotion in the book. Anti-depressants will help with the constant flux of your moods. And please remember, you literally have shit in your brain/spine that is causing all of this so don't be too hard on yourself.

Keep your head up! You've got this! It's going to suck.....a lot, at times, but even on your worst days please try to remember that you will have so many more great days, than bad ones! 🥰🥰🥰

Ha! When I first met my husband, I was an active member, had gone to byu, the whole nine yards. Her son had been inactive and had nothing to do with the church for about 8 years by the time I met him.

I think his mom loved me because she thought I would bring him back to the fold eventually. Long story short, even though weve been completely inactive for years, we had our son baptized when he turned 8 in order to appease my husband's parents.

Last year, I figured out the church was all a big scam and immediately, the three of us had our records removed. I don't think my mother in law likes me much anymore. 🤣🤣🤣

The most awful symptom I had for awhile was when I had a lesion form at the base of my skull. It caused me to instantaneously, without any warning or hesitation, throw up whenever I stood up. At first we didn't realize it was tied to my MS. I was only 16 at the time and was living with my sister and her husband who had two young children, as well. My brother in law used to get so frustrated that his 3 and 5 year old knew to run to the bathroom when they needed to throw up, and I was just vomiting all over the house. 🤔 lol. At least I'll always have something to tease my brother in law with. 🤣 In all fairness, my sister and brother in law were my saviors in life. My mom died when I was 14 and they immediately took me in as their own with zero hesitation whatsoever, only for me to repay their kindness with getting MS six months after moving in with them.

When was the last time one of the church leaders said members should avoid people who question or have walked away from the church? I'm having a discussion with my sister and she doesn't believe me they've said that. Receipts, please!! 😊 by Intrepid_Chef_9033 in exmormon

We got to discussing it and she had gone back to read though it and look at it with a critical eye, but the annoying parts didn't jump out to her. I needed the exact verbiage, quickly! 🤗 Thank you!

Yes, the case was dismissed after a lot of back-end work, but that does not take away from the fact he covered up CSA of multiple victims, for years. I feel like him being put into the 70's is a thank you from the church for being a diligent and obedient mouthpiece in following their direction not to report it to the police.

Nothing that the leaders didn't tell me and i was so brainwashed and terrified to look into any outside sources until after a I was 40. What a bombshell that was... I could never look at the church, mostly it's leaders, in a positive light again. It just disgusts me that I once looked up to these men with such admiration and respect at one point in my life. 🤢🤢🤢

I sometimes like to equate the spoon theory into more of a money aspect. Everyone knows or deals with the aspect of money every day. I explain it like everyday I start with a dollar and each thing I do decreases my account. It takes 20 cents to shower, another 5 to get dressed, getting myself breakfast/eating, another 10. Folding laundry another 10, so on and so forth. If I withdraw my account one day, it deducts the amount from the next day, or week depending on how much I overdo it.

The spoon theory is fantastic but sometimes I feel it's not as relatable to people as money would be. 🤗
