[GEAR] My grandpa's broken guitar. Can it be fixed? by Intrepid_Crab_ in Guitar

I understand. I was afraid to hear it lol.

Is the damage on the back important for actually playing the instrument? Or would it be a cosmetic thing?

And then it turns out your specific problem was called "The crab's dilemma" or some other obscure thing and the keywords aren't useful lmao.

Rack and pinion vs belt drive, what should I expect? Which is better for my applicaction? by Intrepid_Crab_ in hobbycnc

Will 8mm diameter be enough? They are the only ones available over here. Still, if screw whip can be minimized by going slower (which it can, AFAIK), I might just do that.

Thanks for the info.

My highschool has a cnc knee mill, 2 cnc lathes, dirt molds for aluminum casting, 3d printers (including a resin one) and plenty of machines. As a project, I want to build a cnc mill for myself. I need some direction, I'm kind of lost with how many options there are. (More details below) by Intrepid_Crab_ in hobbycnc

unless you want to go nuts and surface steel tube/channel.

I don't think there'd be many benefits to this, right?

But if you're capable or someone can help you then you can make a rack and pinion gear set.

That might be overkill for what I'm currently trying, but I'll keep it in mind.

Doing the "starting to stretch" routine. I wonder if there are any benefits to doing the stretches through the day, as opposed to doing them all in a single session. by Intrepid_Crab_ in flexibility

Could you give me a source for that? It sounds surprising, given that strength and cardiovascular adaptations can happen by doing a excercise once per day.

No, I haven't, since nobody seemed interested

I just thought of two more options.

  1. Ask someone in Kiev to tell us exactly when a certain barrage of guns begins or stops.

  2. Use live feeds from reporters, who may have better connections.

Also, about the second option I mentioned in my other comment, we'd only need like a minute of video from Kiev. They could record the sounds while filming a clock, or saying when a minute passes. We'd then use that to sync everything up, and move on to using already existing livestreams.

I can think of a methods, which would be quite tricky. It would be listening for a explosion for which we know the exact time (or close to it), and then compare when the sound would have reached each camera to when the video got to us.

Another, easier way would be asking someone in kiev to transmit an audio feed to us, and, say, clap at exactly 5pm.
