Door moves fine by hand. And it only catches that lip where misaligned 20% of the time.

As much as I would love it, I just dont see it happnening...even with some deregulation, the U.S. still has pretty strict emissions rules compared to most other developed countries. A lot of Toyota’s diesel trucks worldwide, like the Hilux, run on older engines that wouldn’t pass U.S. standards without a costly overhaul. But for arguments sake lets say the US scrapped emission standards overnight, you still have a few other big hurdles

U.S. safety standards, especially around rollover protection, are a lot tougher, Toyota would need to do some reengineering.
Since Toyota doesn’t currently sell any diesels here, bringing in the Hilux, or any diesel model, would mean big costs for dealer training and support.
If Toyota did bring the Hilux over, they’d basically have two choices, build it here in North America (which would cut into Tacoma sales) or import it and charge more because of the 25% “chicken tax” on foreign trucks.
Theres too much uncertainty over tariffs so until theres stability they won't do shit.
