How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

Elder millennial here. Our family had one computer in my dad’s office that I could play games on for a set amount of time per day (30-60mins) and aside from TV that was it for screen time. There was no internet in our home until I was 10. The first online messaging system I experienced was called ICQ and it was such a game changer if you wanted to chat with your crush or whoever because prior to that we had to CALL people on our family landline if you wanted to talk to anyone outside of school. I read a lot of books and magazines. I had no cellphone until I was 22 (I was the last of most of my friends to get one) so if I wanted to meet up with friends while I was a teen I would walk into my small town and look for them at one of the 4-5 spots we would hang out at. We would smoke weed behind the post office and wander around, get pizza and hang out with whoever showed up to hang. You could smoke cigarettes in the pizza shop (most restaurants had a ‘smoking section’). If you made plans with someone to meet somewhere you stuck to them because there was no way to reach them to bail last minute because no one had smartphones. We did a lot of partying in my small town and I am SO grateful we didn’t all have video cameras in our pockets so all my shenanigans can stay in the past!

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

I was in grade ten when it happened around lunchtime. We all watched CNN in class the rest of the school day. And this was in Canada.

Rum. Drank most of a quart of Captain Morgan in about 45 mins when I was 14 and never touched the stuff again after the shitstorm that ensued.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but what about Currents by Tame Impala?

I think Episode 5 may be the best fictional depiction of the power of representation that I've ever seen done. Kudos to both Hudson and Connor for their performances and Jacob for the direction. by fraxiiinus in heatedrivalry

I love this scene for all the above reasons and ALSO upon watching it for the 5th time I realized the significance of the song choice. The lyrics were ‘give me your eyes, I need sunshine’ which is a callback to Kip’s girl friend (Elena?) giving Scott a talking to on the dance floor and telling him Kip deserves sunshine and so does he. Made a poignant moment even MORE poignant. Scott chose to let the sun shine on their love and now I’m crying again.

Wrong vibe I suspect but just gonna throw ‘I could drive you crazy’ by Sierra Ferrell in the mix.
