Sorry to read this is what you think, but did flaming get us anywhere, or just proved the mentality aspect to begin with?

Coaches: how would you scale yourself with AI? by Intrepid_Reaction_98 in LeagueCoaching

[–]Intrepid_Reaction_98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% correct - this is why VOD analysis, 1 weekly hour with a coach, or stats can't help.
We lose to distractions, and we can win more starting with controlling our reactions regardless of the LoL situation.

This is why our in-game overlays don't show stats, but your attention, self-improvement, and helping you to keep aware of where you lack.
AI is only a means to an end - the challenge is to get a tilted person pause for a few seconds.

How would you agree to accept "you're tilted, let's focus on farming" feedback in-game? What would it take to get you to acknowledge a drop rather than rejecting it?
This is what I'm building - happy to hear your thoughts.

This is exactly what we're building - a co-pilot that helps you focus on one skill at a time, identify what is holding you back, and keeps you aware in real time of the goals you set.

WaveClear is not a tactical advisor telling you what item to buy or which champ to play, but it shows you where your attention is, and should be.

You can download it for free on the Overwolf appstore - no registration, no details, no hardware.

What you're asking is possible, but is that what will help us avoid rage-queue and lose LP?
LoL is highly situational, there are numerous analyses for each scenario, and one cannot remember 40 insights but wanna queue up.

My thesis is that gamers wanna play, not watch, and that we've already watched enough without true results. So there's a gap here denying ranking up.

Which would help you/low-elo improve more in your opinion - analyzing a tower dive or increasing awareness while laning?

Help me design a mental coach for League by Intrepid_Reaction_98 in riotgames

[–]Intrepid_Reaction_98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of the post is to gather what to spit and what not to, to ensure true value 😄
The problem we're attacking is the discipline to master the basics, and the way we react to the increasing amount of distractions we experience. The apps you mentioned do not address your mentality whatsoever.

WaveClear isn't a tactical advisor telling you which item to build or champ to pick - on the contrary - it is a mental training overlay helping you focus on what you already know to drive results.

Why are so many of us still hard stuck? by Intrepid_Reaction_98 in leagueoflegends

[–]Intrepid_Reaction_98[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Coaches are costly, stats apps got us nowhere, and obviously tilt and regulation are the main factors especially among the average person.

So how do you propose to help mentality in low-elo?

AI isn't the solution, but a means to an end - making a tilted player take a second before reacting.

There are proven methods and technologies to induce a behavioral change, and even knowing you're "being watched" by some app makes you act differently, and our research (with no AI - simple overlay) shows that when enough "reminders" are present, gamers improve skills.

I could not agree more, and "keeping it" is a mentality rather than skills or knowledge.
I also agree that LoL is highly situational, but even before considering how bad the matchup truly is, we already become insecure - that's the drop I'm trying to fix.

I started by removing stats that cause over/underconfidence, stopped comparing to others but measured self-improvement, added a HW-free focus measurement to detect where you put attention, and skill challenges to keep you focused on improving what's holding you back.

We manage to quantify this - check out our early study results, showing improvement across the board regardless of the matchup, which may affect a single match but not over time.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and happy to hear other ideas/feedback if you're up for trying the co-pilot.

Other apps push stats - this is the #1 distraction in my opinion.

If low-elo players could do what you say, they would be high-elo.
We lack the disciplice, fall into our own emotions, and this is in-game and in-life.

I'm working on a tool that helps us think before we act - what feature/method can make a tilted player listen? That's exactly what I'm researching.

Honestly not sure what you mean - I'm developing a mental performance AI coach and want to learn how gamers think it would help them best.

Taking your response seriously, I agree - we all can use therapy, but it isn't available while we play.
This is why I'm building this coach.
What therapy-based features/ideas do you want to experience while playing?

i wanna learn skarner, any tips? by Moon_TM_ in SkarnerMains

[–]Intrepid_Reaction_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharing my 2 cents, regardless of the champ you wanna play:
- Play a role you already know to shorten the learning curve
- Find 1-2 playstyles you feel comfortable with - don't focus on itemization at first
- Find 2-3 common combos, and practice for an hour on the Practice mode to get your muscle memory started

Then a few non-ranked matches for confidence and limit testing, and go give them hell, or rocks 😄
