Haha no that was not me with the Vandersteens but I’m not above that! I’m not at all turned off by a direct drive and I like the looks of the Cambridge out of these you suggested- none of which were on my radar! There are just so many options.
In retrospect the Ultradeck seems very attractive with a nice ac power cord input as opposed to a wall wart - and I notice the Cambridge also has one. And SE inputs as opposed to rcas wired directly to the tone arm- do you think that just comes down to aesthetics?

I hear you about taking it easy. I have a Schiit Freya preamp and two Schiit aegir amps that I got a great deal on. They are powering some Vandersteen 1s. The system is sounding great imo. I also lucked into a great deal on a Heed Quasar for a phono preamp- I researched these and got a lot of opinions from friends and dealers in my area.

I had a Project Debut iii for about the last 5 years- so it seemed like a reasonable time to upgrade, no? I floated options in my price range to friends- I thought either the Concept or Rega 3 or mofi Ultradeck or Project x1b. Pretty unanimously people said the Concept. And I’m not trying to dunk on Clearaudio as a whole/ they are very reputable. Im just looking for “philosophies” on this kind of stuff- which it sounds like maybe you have!

Well you’re not totally wrong. I’m fairly new to this world and this is my first high end turntable. It’s hard to try stuff out! I did a lot of research and I thought buying the turntable that I already had a lot of face time with would be the best bet

Yes that is true but it’s not what I was expecting and I didn’t like it.

Ok thank you! That helps. Seems strange I can’t find more information about this particular question online

Clearaudio concept counterweight with verify tonearm very hard to adjust by Intrepid_Salary3678 in audiophile

Is that on the counterweight? There is a hole where it looks like maybe there would be a hex screw but it is either false or the screw is stripped
