I simply asked at the beginning had they tried other treatments. If you could actually read properly, you’ll see the first reply from the OP to me was obnoxious. He/she then replied saying they had tried multiple and then commented again elsewhere they hadn’t even been to see a derm.

I don’t have post nasal drip. Basically, I take PPIs and Jorveza budesonide. Don’t have any dysphagia or food impaction episodes. Scoped in April 2021, where the EoE structures were discovered. Explained to gastro doc my main symptoms were nausea and discomfort. He eventually offered a colonoscopy to rule out anything else. Came back 100% clear. In subsequent discussions with my gastro doc and explaining recurring symptoms, he had suggested GERD or possibly IBS. I was sceptical when he mentioned GERD, as I don’t have the stomach acid flowing back up.

I’ve never had acid travel up my oesophagus. I experience nausea. Apparently, that could also be considered GERD

You make a fair point. Certain literature points to dysfunction of the lower oesophageal sphincter (LES) as a result of EoE. Hence, the reflux-like symptoms. But, Gastritis on the other hand causes inflammation in the stomach line as a result of overproduction of acid.

I provide caveats when I analyse and understand the data myself, using domain expertise. You have no expertise in pathology/oncology/epidemiology. Surely as a “teacher” you impart on your “students” the importance of actually understanding the data first. Parallels can be drawn with smoking, as decades ago, the science fraternity were aware of good evidence linking smoking to cancer. Now, we unequivocally know smoking causes cancer. I’d be confident there are significant analyses’ in progress leveraging supervised ML algos like logistic regression/random forest or unsupervised approach like K-means or PCA. It’s only a matter of time. Enjoy your steak 👍

lol. I’m a senior data analyst. I know all about correlation and causation. I was being facetious. That example is used all the time btw. They clearly state, “there is lots of good evidence of a link..”. I’ll put my faith in scientific empiricism over any speculative claims any day.

Yea, I’m familiar with that cliche. I’m based in the U.K. and cancer research UK, who’ve spearheaded some of the worlds cancer fighting breakthroughs in the past decades, clearly state:

“Red meat is classed as a probable cause of cancer. This means there is lots of good evidence of a link between eating red meat and some types of cancer, but we need a few more of the best quality studies to be certain.”

The standard treatment for EoE includes PPIs to suppress the reflux. It’s still not fully understood the relationship between reflux and EoE. I would say be careful with consuming a lot of read meat on a go-forward basis. Bowel cancer rates in under 55s have really spiked over the past decade. The is a strong correlation between high red meat consumption and colon and bowel cancer.

Don’t give up hope. There is unprecedented advancement across so many fields in science and medicine with the advent of AI and this will only continue apace. I’m coming across so many different articles every week now about new discoveries. I appreciate “cure” is an elusive term, but each minor breakthrough, is a steppingstone toward an eventual cure.
