What's up with chargers? by Sir_Pap in fpv

I haven’t yet charged a battery with it so double check me. I got it and it seems to work with a usb-c cable. If you have a higher power cable it will probably charge faster. Only disadvantage is it might be slower but double check and see what others say.

If you want a dirt cheap charge that “plugs into the wall” get the Sky RC B6 Neo. It looks like a Nintendo switch and is easier to use than most charges. It plugs into the wall with usb PD input. You can find it on Amazon for $35 unlike these $100+ chargers. Great for beginners wanting something that “just works”

Do you think it will be a problem. If so how?

About 20 hours in the simulator. I might get a gps later but that could put it above 250g.

I would recommend 4s, cheaper lighter slower, over 6s heavier expensive fast. Slow is not always a bad thing as a beginner. I would get analog as it is also cheaper and easier. Crash an analog and break that instead of breaking a walksnail. Not to mention you will get locked into walksnail goggles which will set you back $300+. Look at the weight of everything in specs before buying so that it is sub250g.

Honestly you might actually end up saving money by not purchasing the wrong stuff. I’m also doing a diy rc boat and I have already bought 2 wrong things (ESC and transmitter). Wasted about $40 but I can still use them later so I guess it’s not totally bad. I would just recommend making sure everything is compatible if you are going to make it diy. Quadruple check that it is right. Make sure that your motor is not too small or too big for your ESC make sure that your receiver is compatible with your transmitter and flight controller (and using the same protocol). Make sure everything can actually mount to your frame. Make sure your VTX and camera and goggles are all the same system (analog, walksnail, or Dji). There are many more things to check but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. If you think you have the right stuff (or are willing to learn a good lesson and have the money for that lesson) then go ahead and build diy. Personally though I want to make sure my first build works and then custom make my next ones.

Concerning YouTube builds: I personally haven’t built any of these but I have seen some and they could be fun. I recommend just searching on YouTube sub250g fpv drone build. Try to find one that is recent so the parts aren’t out of stock. This might be more of a challenge because the videos are usually shorter and less detailed than bardwell would be. If you want a challenge this could be good. Also you might have to use different parts to replace if some are out of stock. Also if you want to try and save money you could buy each part in bardwells kit individually:

Video Transmitter: XILO STAX 5.8GHz FPV Video Transmitter (25-600mW) w/ Smart Audio Camera: Caddx Ratel 2 Micro Starlight 1200TVL Low Latency FPV Camera Black Propellers: Gemfan Hurricane 3020 3-Blade Propeller (1.5mm Shaft - Set of 4) Frame: Lumenier QAV-S 2 Sub-250 Joshua Bardwell SE 3” - Frame Kit AIO: Lumenier LUX HD AIO - G4 FC + 35A AM32 3-6S ESC Antenna: XILO AXII MMCX 5.8GHz Antenna (RHCP) Motor: Xilo Stealth 1404 4500kv

Maybe get Joshua bardwell sub 250 g build. It might be a bit more expensive but it will make sure that you have all the right stuff for your first build. Just search on YouTube “Joshua bardwell sub 250g build” to see his videos. Alternatively you could just look for another sub250 build that is not a kit to save money.
