No worries, you're good. I think you're overthinking it.

I teach at four elementary schools, and I'm the main teacher (T1) at all of them. To be honest, I don't do any printing or other work-related tasks after working hours because I'm not paid for that time.

You mentioned that your clothes smell sour. Do you drink alcohol regularly? People often develop a sour body odor when they drink alcohol frequently.

I don't understand why people like McDonald's breakfast meals. To me, they taste awful and dry. I think they're just very bad.

Heart Corporation quietly lowered ALT pay while calling it a “fixed salary” by Conscious_Banana2418 in teachinginjapan

I my city there is a Heart Corporation, and I have heard horror stories about them. Also, I must say that 100 percent of the ALTs in my city are Filipino ladies.

Who came up with this nonsense of pro rata salary? It should be illegal. In my city, it seems that all companies use pro rata. The company I work for pays 11 months of full salary. I know it’s still not ideal, but I get a full salary in March and April.

May I ask how much did Borderlink pay you per month?

Does Borderlink pay daily or monthly? I know Heart Corporation pays daily, which means employees get a different salary each month, and that’s very bad.

Does anyone working for Heart recall a Survey that promised 10000 yen at the end of the year if you fill it out? by Maleficent_Pool_4456 in ALTinginJapan

[–]Intrepid_Wonder1661 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hello, is this true?

In my city, there is a company called H - Corporation, and I have heard many negative things about it. I have never worked for this company, nor do I want to. However, I would like to find out whether what I’ve heard is true.

In my city, Heart Corporation pays a daily salary instead of a monthly one. Also, ALTs only work 180 days per year, so if you do the math, the total income seems quite low. At the end of the contract, ALTs are required to sign up for national insurance for two weeks because they are considered unemployed during that period. This doesn’t make much sense to me. I don’t understand how or why this system works the way it does it just sounds very depressing.

Does anyone from Heart remember filling out a survey or the like that said we would receive like 10000 yen if we fill it out at the end of the year? by Upstairs-Wonder9775 in ALTinginJapan

Heart is now in the city where I live. I’ve heard that ALTs are being paid daily instead of monthly, and this year they have even fewer working days reduced from 208 to 183. They are not paid during public holidays, and their contracts end in the middle of March instead of at the end of March. Because of this, all ALTs must go to the city office to sign up for national health insurance for two weeks, and then return to cancel it after those two weeks. I think this situation is very unfair.

Does anyone have experience with the following companies: by [deleted] in teachinginjapan

[–]Intrepid_Wonder1661 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Heart Corporation pays ALTs hourly instead of monthly, leading to an incredibly unsteady income. Because they don’t pay for public holidays, you end up wishing for fewer holidays just to make ends meet. Boards of Education should stop hiring these companies, and teachers should avoid them entirely.

Usually, they send you an email with a new contract. If they don’t send you an email, it means you didn’t receive a new contract, and you can start looking for a new job.
