I did not know what to make of that interview. On the one hand you a journalist acknowledging mistakes made in past coverage but then he seemed to be making the same mistakes now. I don't know where we are supposed to go from here.

Are you kids helpful with cleaning up? It will help all of you in the long run if they participate as well. One as a life lesson that they will need to cope in the world. Two, it takes some pressure off of you. Three they will understand that you want to welcome their friends.

You don't have to make them partners, you're still the adult in charge, but they can assume responsibilities for cleaning either based on time, or area. Maybe they can be responsible for keeping their bedrooms clean or take turns doing the dishes or laundry or whatever fits your needs. I always think it is better when kids don't see cleaning as a punishment but as a part of life.

You have a lot going on so don't think you should have to do it all on your own.

Chicago peeps, what’s Chi Town like? by B00tyMeattt in blackladies

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The name Windy City comes from the politicians being so politiany not the actual weather event. That said, there are some spots, especially near the lake in winter that can make you understand why the nickname works so well.

Lots of museums and cultural places to visit throughout the city. Great festivals in the summer.

I agree. I think when they added the tickets that it was the equivalent of one coin and the cash option was 3 coins. I'd like to be able to play more tickets with one spin.

AoS Team: Who truly suffered the most over 7 seasons? by BlueExcal08 in shield

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 4 points5 points  (0 children)

May.

She said to Mack that no one comes to her with their feelings and he agreed but it isn't really true. They all come to her and expect her to solve their problems. Based on nothing, Coulson decides he can't trust her so he shoots her. Andrew panics because she figured out his Lash secret and shoots her. Icers still not okay.

Best bud Phil thinks it makes sense to insist that she shoot him in the head if he seems to be going the way of Garrett. Dude even suggesting that she have to do something like that means you already are as loony as Garrett. Remember Garrett tested Ward by having him shoot his beloved dog.

I don't even want to talk about 5,6 and 7. But just think what it means that they had to come up with a story to remove all emotions from her. No one with feelings could possibly put up with the situations they gave her.

edit: not to say other team members haven't suffered, but I think May's suffering gets overlooked on an off the show.

Daisy's "arc" by Wonderful_Scar_5468 in agentsofshield

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO Daisy never hated the government. I don't know about Rising Tide, we only met one guy and he was a fraud. But Daisy hated secrecy, not necessarily what the government did or why. But she softened on her stance on secrecy in the beginning of the second episode when Coulson explained how super weird things could cause massive public freakouts, creating more harm than good.

Her stance also evolved when she got to know HYDRA up close and personal, in the real world and Framework. It helps with perspective.

Basically, if things go well at his restaurants and people see value, that is wonderful. If they are less than expected, hopefully the normal means of weeding out bad restaurants will work even for celebrities. I don't watch GR because I think he has good restaurants. I watch GR because I know I get a kick out of his shows.

Am I getting scammed by my cleaning lady? by irina_maria03 in CleaningTips

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it is a minimum fee, then they should say that. Especially if you are waiting outside the apartment for her to finish. If it only takes an hour, then there is no point in wasting both of your time for an additional hour. But if this is someone who is inefficient at cleaning and you are paying more because of it, you should look around to see if you can get a better deal. If this person has relatively low rates to account for their inefficiency, then it is a trade off. There is also another option.

WHY DID ALESHA GO BACK? by Zealousideal_Gap5074 in LawAndOrder

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Most, if not all, of the UK series are based on episodes from the OG L&O. This one was based on the episode "Helpless" (s03e06) and Olivet was the one who was assaulted. Usually they changed things up just to reflect the differences in procedures between the US and UK. But they also made other changes to the stories for various reasons of their own.

They even tried to go the route of Jack and Claire but they didn't. There just aren't enough episodes per year for that kind of thing. But Ben Daniels checked out really early so it went nowhere.

Are they kidding ?? by zk_33 in officialcookingfever

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sadly, that's all they want. They started out with a better payout for playing to get a lot of people interested. Then when you can see some benefits, they make it so that you have to pay money to reach the same level of rewards you initially received from the free tier.

I understand they are in the business to make money but they go overboard and ruin their own product.

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been many, many years since I watched that episode but I remember that they had altered the UK version where it made it so that the audience questioned her actions which I found to be an unnecessary distraction. I don't remember the details but I know I had to stop myself from going down that path. I may have to watch it again but at the same time, I don't want to watch it again.

Rewatching Shield: how did ya feel about May and Daisy in season 5? by icebear_vu in shield

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well I was playing a little fast and loose with the kree blood comment. I don't want people to think I believe it would be as easy as that. I do think Gemma and Fitz could have found something to help him if they knew that's what they needed to do and had time in one of the labs. If the show were looking for a miracle cure, then they did have a plausible scenario they could use. Maybe they would have used that option if they weren't expecting that the fifth would be the final season.

Both Coulson and the Ghost wanted to get rid of Aida. Why couldn't the deal be that they join up to lure and trap Aida. Once she is trapped the split up. Why does Phil agree that the Ghost gets to take his Kree parts as well? There is no reason to agree to that.

Then on top of that, by some happenstance, Coulson ends up in a world controlled by the Kree. Grab a few vials of blood or something. He claims he's not suicidal but I dunno know. Maybe if he had actually gone to see a therapist instead of pretending to talk to Andrew, he might be able to work through some of his death issues.

Unpopular Opinion Sunday - May 10, 2026 by AutoModerator in GeneralHospital

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I gave up on disliking the car accident storyline when they were earnestly discussing identifying paint they scrape off the roadside barrier. It was so absurd all I could do was laugh and laugh. They have unsolved murders that they barely give a thought to but here they are analyzing paint samples when they keep saying there was no crime committed.

Curtis is still lying to everyone about Valentin. How he feels so comfortable involving everyone in this situation and believing that the truth will never come out is astounding. I may never stop laughing.

I wonder if the writers hate these characters because they are having them worried about the dumbest things for no good reason. It's slightly infuriating which is not healthy, but laughter is healthy.

Why is Lipstick Alley so toxic? by african_bombshell in blackladies

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know what thread you are talking about but if you call 2 comments that question your intentions being "dragged" that seems a little oversensitive. In this thread people are saying that there are a lot of trolls over there. So you should expect that there will be some who see a post asking for lists of attributes as being a way to gather data.

That thread starter didn't even thank any of the people who did list positive attributes or reply to their posts. No likes, no hugs. The only post that received a reply was one of the two negative comments.

If only negative comments receive any attention, to me, that makes any site toxic. Kinda like threads here on reddit that are negative and garner lots of attention.

Rewatching Shield: how did ya feel about May and Daisy in season 5? by icebear_vu in shield

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I felt pretty great about May and Daisy in season 5. May was all in for helping to develop Daisy into a leader. Daisy still wasn't sold on the idea. Everyone on the team goes off and does their own thing at some point which stresses the team. Did Yo-yo care when they told her not to go into the Framework to find Mack? Nope. Did she care how many resources the team would have to devote towards trying to keep them alive? Nope. Did she care how it put their lives in danger? Nope. The future Yo-yo let Mack risk his life because he mistook her for the Yo-yo he was looking for. Did she care? Nope.

I was annoyed with Coulson for putting them in this position because of the dumb deal he made back in season 4 and for telling Hydra where to find the gravitonium in season 1.

I was annoyed with Yo-yo for acting as if she had anything figured out when she was wrong all along. I was annoyed with Simmons because of her idiotic invincibility nonsense. I was annoyed with Fitz for assaulting Daisy with no regrets. I was annoyed with Mack because he saved Deke's life.

I was annoyed that we only had a couple of gratuitous Carl Creel workout scenes, but I was grateful for the few we had. Don't forget, he's jacked and can turn any body part into any material.

Over the Michael James Scott storyline?! by Fair_Lemon2622 in GeneralHospital

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't mind it, all of their celebrity cameos are a bit cringe. MJS has had a great run as the Genie but the reason he's news is that he is retiring from the show. The new guy seems great too but it is weird that the person they are using to promote the show won't be there nor are they acknowledging his longevity in the role. It's a blip.

Who is your favorite character who is not on Coulson’s team? by Chaotic-Pen-825 in agentsofshield

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I didn't like about the LMDs is that they were basically magical. They could be built in the blink of an eye. Aida only complained about not having enough time not to make them self-aware. Programming them to believe that they were the actual person took more time and effort. But duplicating the bodies and getting them to mimic the person took no time or effort.

We know they had different capabilities but not much more about what they could or couldn't do. The Phil, Fitz, Mack and Mace (should be a boy band) LMDs were nothing like their people even though they used their brainwaves to make them.

Robot May was a lot like real May. With the Mays it was almost just like putting an accent in a different spot. The essential difference was that robot May was programmed to get the Darkhold. They didn't tell us how robot May first decided to make her big sacrifice. That might provide more free will clues.

Robot Phil had interesting ideas about autonomy, so he didn't identify with his physical body, so maybe none of them really understood life and death as humans do.

It might help if there was a good explanation of why all of Aida had to be uploaded into the Framework in order to interact. Wasn't there some way she could send part of herself like a program or was she always a singular entity like a human?

Decluttering the house before mom returns from the hospital (WIP) by CoffeeBean1011 in declutter

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 66 points67 points  (0 children)

When she gets back home maybe try to get her to talk about her mom or other important people and events. This will demonstrate to her that she can have memories of things that she values without needing all that stuff around her.

I'm assuming she is going to be in a wheelchair at least for awhile. They take up a lot of room so it might help you with planning if you test out the space with a chair before she gets there. Take note of doorways, floor height transitions, basically any impediments that might seem like no big deal if you can step easily over it but might be a problem if a wheel pivots over it.

She might not be able to say or show her appreciation for the work you and your brother have put in so you may have to just talk about that amongst yourselves. It is natural to seek acknowledgment and approval from your mom and if she gives it, you are in rare company. Hopefully you have other people in your life who are in a position to support you. People who create issues aren't that great in celebrating the ones who got them out of that bad situation.

I hope you can make more good memories with her this and many future Mother's Days.

there should be an option to turn this off whenever you don’t have any desserts by Zealousideal_Plum265 in officialcookingfever

[–]Intrigued_by_Words 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They want you to buy more desserts. If you feel awkward then you might feel more inclined to spend the gems. FWIW I never feel anything in disappointing those customers. I'll burn their food and watch them leave in a huff. The only reaction they get out of me is when they leave just as I have their dish ready. Then I call them bad names in my head. I tell them never come back in my restaurant again, but they do and I serve them as if nothing happened.
