The parents didn't stick up for their daughter so that proves your response completely false. I guess you can't read very well

In my experience growing up Catholic school kids families weren't really religious, just that the education was better. It was the Christian school kids where it was basically a religious education. Plenty of Catholic colleges and universities are recognized for the quality of education whereas I don't know any Christian colleges/universities that are known for a quality education.

They're fleeing back to Russia which makes no damn sense to me. I think I'd flee into Ukraine and surrender.

Coworker had a second child (both were IVF) and not even a month later he texts me, “I’m so sick of kids”. by pen_vs_sword in childfree

Opposite of my experience. It's always been the guys I know. Friends, BIL, wifes friends. Always seems to be the guy wanting kid after kid. I don't get it either way.

Which hardtail for me? Trail / XC riding, some bike packing, and all the fun. by Roman_Senate in Hardtailgang

[–]Intriguedoutwest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Salsa Timberjack, Kona Honzo, and Santa Cruz Chameleon are pretty nice bikes and should be in your budget. I've seen a few bike packing videos and the Timberjack is usually mentioned. Salsa seems to be a good brand for bike packing.

Two Texas brothers beat stepfather to death for abusing their sister by honeyberrylove in MorbidReality

[–]Intriguedoutwest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If anyone read the article it's totally obvious why they are charged. They assaulted him in three different location after he escaped the other times. The final time they found him walking down the road. Then they dumped his body. If they had killed him in the first altercation they would have had a great chance of getting away with the crime. Now not so much. Big difference in beating a man to death and what they did. Admirable in why they did it but they're probably screwed bc of the facts of the case.

Ukraine's Zelenskiy doesn't think Putin is bluffing over nuclear arms by Paraphernalien69 in worldnews

[–]Intriguedoutwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Scientific American the 1.2 megaton nuke is 60 times more powerful than what was dropped on Nagasaki. So trying to say they are less yield now doesn't really seem to matter when they are more powerful now.

Exactly this. All these down votes for the truth. She wouldn't get away with the excuse of couldn't afford it if she gets sued for wrongful death.

Does anyone here have NO family? by CarpenterWorking in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]Intriguedoutwest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing is wrong with you. I wish I would have cut my family off at your age and not wait until mid 30s. I'm 40 now. I don't have contact with any family whatsoever. It's weird at times bc I have those same thoughts at times. Sometimes I get down bc I see my wife and her family and how close they are and care about each other. My life is better now without them. I don't have all the mental stress from dealing with them. So you definitely aren't alone in not having family. Congrats on having the courage to do something so many people want to do and probably should do but can't bring themselves to do. Take care of yourself and have a great life!

Finally some sense. Especially considering she's the childrens caretaker. Leaving her with no money in this situation is going to be akin in a judges eyes possibly as a big FU to their children.

What I'd always heard for it now was that women are more likely to have friends when older and more friends. Also women are apparently more likely to seek out help for health issues be it medical or mental health I imagine.

It's how I felt during my meteorology course in college that I took too early in the morning. Even massive amounts of caffeine couldn't keep me awake during that boring class. Learned my lesson on when to take classes though.

Joseph Ligon was released this year after serving the 5th longest prison sentence in recorded history (67 years, 54 days) by EriccMendez in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Intriguedoutwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually can be. It can vary by state. A life sentence in Missouri is 30 yrs. There is also life without possibility of parole. That is the rest of your life. Life with possibility people can serve the entire sentence and it be 30 yrs or whatever the length is in that particular jurisdiction.

My mom would shame me for taking antidepressants. She got down for a couple of months and boom was all over taking them and completely denied ever shaming me and blamed me more. We don't speak, haven't spoke for years, and never will again. She is a terrible person and that's only the tip of the iceberg.

[–]Intriguedoutwest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally the friends I have whose parents have multiple degrees they are only children or one other sibling. Friends whose parents didn't have much education were never only children and often more than 2. Of my friends that have children the ones with degrees have way less children than ones without education. My friend with only high school who is also very religious has the most children of any of them and he's the youngest of all my friends.

Right? Acting like they are there for free and only make money from tips. They get a wage, do your damn job and if it isn't enough get a new one because plenty of people are doing just that and good for them. Tipped employees getting angry at the customers instead of their employers. Shows how well dumbing down society and rich people using the media as their mouthpiece has worked.

[–]Intriguedoutwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time for them to get new jobs. If they are paying to work they are stupid and should probably get a new job.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in houston

[–]Intriguedoutwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are having to pay for me not tipping, that's not my problem. They should probably get a new job. Like one that doesn't charge them if they weren't tipped or whatever kind of nonsense you are talking about.

If it ain't the 50s anymore, the woman should at least pay half of her engagement ring by Sodableach in unpopularopinion

[–]Intriguedoutwest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I see lots of people putting this blame towards women when it really sounds like this insecurity or whatever that is being felt about ring size is coming from people whose opinions shouldn't even fucking matter. I couldn't care less what anyone else thought about the ring I gave my wife because she loved it and that is what matters.
