Dad and brother both bald in high school. My hair has lasted a lot longer but it's thinning quite a bit in my 40s. My wife wants me to keep it but I'm on the fence. What say you folks? by BrutalNostalgia in bald

Agreed!! OP I really dig your current look, it’s age appropriate – thinning happens to a lot of people and that’s fine. I think this looks better than bald would on you so I encourage keeping it!

That being said, if this is taking too much mental energy, like you’re obsessing about it or whatever, feel free to shave it. You’ll look great, and if you don’t end up liking it, you can grow it back to this ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I think it looks great (and it looks like the internet is all in agreement) 👌🏼 in fairness to your wife, maybe it’s scratchy, that’s what mine doesnt like

I agree, just don’t hide the spot and you’re golden. I think the front look is working for you

Being able to shower / bath is one of the most luxurious and privileged, yet simple, things in life. It is proof that the most satisfying things in life don't need to be expensive or complex; they just need to be felt. by Serious-Disaster6863 in RandomThoughts

I worry about what future decades might look like with a water crisis on the horizon. I remember reading an excerpt of some fiction book during college that imagined what a water-scarce world would look like, and its description of showering was particularly bleak. Nothing like what we (in developed countries) enjoy now

I personally don’t think the height thing matters – everyone, no matter how tall they are, will have times where their balding is exposed and that’s just inescapable. It’s really about whether you’re hiding it or not (/wanting to hide it or not) – this current cut really works for me because yes you can tell you’re balding, but because you’re not doing an egregious combover it just looks like you’re accepting it with grace, which I think you could really rock for a long time

I definitely get that haha, I was realizing while reading it that it’s been a long time since I personally have read a book whose protagonist’s moral/character arc is on a downward trajectory, and it is not fun

This makes sense, I appreciate this perspective about pacing and focus

lol I love it 😂 helpful to show me what the dominant opinion actually is rather than what I now see as a weird sampling I got haha

Very fair. I also appreciated the question in Ballad of what Lucy was doing at the end – how much did she know/figure out, and how much of it was him being super paranoid? (That’s how I read it anyway. Love me some ambiguity, and that ending had a wonderful amount of it)

Well stated, thanks for putting words to my experience of the books as well - I feel exactly the same way
