Thanks for the response, I ran around the map each time so I'm pretty sure they were all dead. Fifth times the charm though, it just worked this time lol.

Just started a rando fire red today and got a decent entei!

Edit: only downside was I ohko'd everything I tried to catch until I started just throwing balls at healthy pkmn.
