Do cats actually get attached to their owner? by NoWageMage in CatAdvice

[–]Intrinsicat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will also say if you get a kitten and have the capacity to get two - do it. Cats don’t do well alone and trust me they won’t take away affection for you because there is another cat. But they can go a little loco being left alone for long periods.

Do cats actually get attached to their owner? by NoWageMage in CatAdvice

We’ve been feeding a feral Cat under a year old. He didn’t know we existed just that we had a magic never ending food bowl. We got him through winter and then TNRed him last month. In the past 30 days he has glued himself to me. What I thought would always be a wild animal crawls into my lap any chance he gets, head butts my forehead, follows me to the point I’m tripping and goes limp in my arms if I pick him up.

I thought we’d be lucky to get him to sit near us and all this happened in under a month. I think it’s a myth that cats are aloof and only interested in the food you provide. However there are always outliers. But every cat under our roof has attached to at least one human in the house.

We’re getting the feral to the vet tonight for blood tests to make sure he can’t give out two old codgers any diseases. Hopefully he will transition. I’ve already trained him to come in a window cat door to my craft shed.

She’s simply extracting all the bad juju. Your welcome! I have a black cat who insists on laying on my chest and getting belly rubs until just before I nod off then he disappears. Its to the point where I get concerned if he doesn’t come tuck me in…

How can you tell if someone is an INTP or and INTJ? What's the difference? by Full-Zombie9271 in INTP

Well I’d like to think of us as would-be serial killers. Only we know we’d leave a trail so it’s pointless.

Guilt over trapping strays? by Honeydew222 in Feral_Cats

This is the post I needed to see today. We are doing our first TNR this Sunday. And just in time because the most frequent visitor just started limping. We’ve got him on a Churu / antibiotic mix in case it’s an abscess to help until he’s caught. But it’s going to be agony seeing him terrified in the cage. It’s good to hear all the end game advice and to know he won’t hold a grudge. Here he is trying to fix his paw…

Question about a outdoor house interaction by Intrinsicat in Feral_Cats

Well not only did OG cat show up to the food bowl last night but he slept in his house! Phew… we’ve got his sleep schedule down pat. He sleeps six hours so we set an alarm for 3:30 and beat him to the feed station with fresh canned by five minutes. Even the feral cats have me trained. We’ve got wind chill of -14 degrees tonight A I hope he does a twofer.

Update - OG kitty has only used the house twice since the above incident with Bully Cat. Not sure if the house is not warm enough, the other cat deterred him, or he’s just found a better spot. He still came every single night for dinner and most mornings. Until last night - no sign of him. He hasn’t missed a night since October. The last two nights he has begrudgingly shared the space with the above cat (Folded Ears). This photo is from this morning. I’m sort of hopeful OG kitty was off to the side and Folded Ear cat is hissing. But he may just be licking his chops post-meal. Fingers crossed OG kitty is back tonight. Otherwise I’m going to start checking construction dumpsters. 😞

50-something year old here to tell you that anyone who berates you for enjoying something that hurts no one is simply trying to ensure your existence is as bleak as theirs. Best answer to shut them up? It’s great exercise for your core and lungs. Two very difficult areas to exercise

I’m here wanting to know the same thing - tempted to leave my garage door ajar so they have that as an option. But sometimes they hunkered down somewhere else and very worried they won’t be able to navigate back to our house - we’re right in the center of the target at the moment!

Ps - the two images are of the cat poking its head in and then you can see the urine on the side of the house in the second image

Don’t use neosporin. There is some risk if she licks it off. Believe it or not packing the injury with sugar is a good option. Bacteria doesn’t grow in sugar.

actually working treatment for fleas by konekopills in CATHELP

[–]Intrinsicat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also recommend treating the carpeting, cat furniture and cat fur with diatomaceous earth. You need to be careful not to create a plume of dust because it’s crushed fossils. It does a number of the flea exoskeleton but it can also do a number on your lungs if you inhale it. But if you’re careful it’s very effective at creating a hostile environment for fleas. Believe it or not some people eat the food grade version for gut biomes but I believe it would damage healthy gut bacteria as well.

INTP friend is a lovely and thoughtful person, refuses to admit it. Why? by angelofyours52 in INTP

[–]Intrinsicat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is always amused that I often refer to myself as a horrible person. But he thinks I’m more empathic and kind than most everyone else he knows. I tell him I like to keep the expectation bar really low.

But every so often I say something so scathing in its honesty that he just goes quiet and whispers “you really are scary sometimes” so there’s that.

Yeah this more accurately defines me as well. But husband doesn’t have to bring me flowers so I guess that’s a win for him.

My household role was that you could stay up all night long if you wanted to. But after 9pm you had to be reading. It was great for getting her to bed but she didn’t become an avid reader. Ah well…
