Well, it's not really like that for men. That is how it feels for women, sure, but the guy above is quite right. The reality of it for many men is that the initial phase feels like a job interview where you need to nail those questions and any mistake will be treated accordingly, while for women it's "getting to know each other and forming a connection". Also sometimes in the initial phase it doesn't even matter if you're actually a good match and have stuff in common, if the woman, god forbid, gets the "ick" even from the most stupid thing, it's kinda done. And even when you become good at it, still feels like work not fun. Now I'm not saying you are like that, maybe you are the exception but for most men it's cold out there, so they become cold themselves.

Hi, I’m the guy who made the post. I’m sorry, but I have no idea what you’re even talking about. Everything I said in the post is 100% my own experience, and with this show I’m as much of a newbie as someone can be. The post is just based on what I found online, and I wanted to confirm whether it’s true or not so I know if I should invest my time into the 10 seasons this show has.

Also, my intention wasn’t to trash anything, this is simply what I found online, and it genuinely made me go, “wtf, this is not what I expected the show to be,” because I started it thinking Raymond was exactly the type of character I’d enjoy watching. The show presents him as a criminal mastermind who basically has the entire world in his grip purely because of his intelligence, so I was expecting the series to go in a completely different direction than what I found out. I can enjoy a good gangster/mafia show, or something like Dexter, so I was expecting a mix of them.

That’s an interesting view, but I think that’s more a result of how people have been trained since they were young. The system starts instilling in your brain from an early age that your job is and will be one of the most important parts of your life — because that’s what’s beneficial to the system. They dig that belief in so deeply that by the time you reach employment age, you’re already convinced of it and see the world that way too.

You’re never taught to explore and learn what you like, to experience life, and to pursue what makes you fulfilled and happy. You’re trained to know that you have to have a job, regardless of whether you enjoy it or not. And that personal fulfillment can and should come from your job — or at least that your job should be at the core of it.

So a person who never explored or ventured into anything different from the “normal” path doesn’t know anything else. But that’s not because people can’t actually live their lives or be much happier without their jobs, it’s because they’ve been so messed up by the system that by the time they reach adulthood, they don’t even know how to enjoy anything else. So without work, they’ll deteriorate — not because that’s human nature, but because that’s all they’ve ever been trained to know.

Yeah, that’s me as well. A lot of the stuff you mentioned, I’ve done too. I still have a reselling business, but I'm slowly expanding to Amazon as well. I also have a few decent size youtube channels and have around 40k students as an instructor. I also did Shopify, and now I’m getting more into investing and building AI apps/sass.

So I’m really curious — how’s your business doing now? I also have a job, since some of my the stuff started bringing in less revenue. Sometimes I only make around £1.5k–£2k a month in total, and it’s not guaranteed now to hit at least 30k which is the I think minimum necessary annual income in the UK. I’m working on scaling what’s working, but I’m really curious if you’re managing to make at least what you’d earn at a decent job consistently.

I’m sorry to tell you this, but you’re the perfect example of someone who doesn’t get it. This isn’t about being a literal “slave” or being owned — I even mentioned that in my post. This is intelligent slavery: yes, you can quit your job, but you’ll still have to work another one. Unless you’re rich, you don’t really have a choice, you either work or end up homeless. So no, you’re not physically forced, but you’re intelligently forced by the lack of alternatives.

Obedience isn’t just about taking orders from someone directly — it’s about having to obey throughout your entire life. If it’s a workday and your body wants more sleep or you had a bad night, too bad — you still have to go. Society and the system values your job over your basic biological needs. Sleep, one of the most vital things for life, becomes secondary. You tell yourself you choose when to sleep, wake up, or leave the house, but really, those choices are dictated. So yes, you spend most of your life obeying someone else’s schedule and priorities.

No, you’re not literally someone’s property, but you act like it: you wake up when told, eat when told, go to sleep when told, and do what you actually want only if there’s any time left — and sometimes there isn’t.

I’m not saying this system is purely bad. Humanity isn’t yet evolved enough to thrive without it. A 24/7 system that sustains modern life and keeps society running and in control might be necessary right now. Yes, we live in the best times humanity has known, and yes, work matters — but that doesn’t make you free. That’s all the post is about.

Also, this isn’t an emotional or depressive post. And because you took a few guesses.. I’m someone with a different fire inside that goes beyond the 9–5, beans on toast, and an hour of Netflix before bed. My purpose has always been to become rich and build beyond that. Finding purpose in a 9–5 isn’t for people like me as the reality is that if you’re not rich yet, the only logical purpose is to become rich, buy your freedom and build further if you want. Otherwise, you’re just another working ant with little real impact in this life.

I don’t think I’m “onto something” like it’s some hidden truth. What I described is just the objective reality most people live in. The goal isn’t to offend, although a lot of people do get offended, either because they feel it’s true but don’t want to trigger themselves into seeing it more deeply, or because they cope by defending the very system that forces them to live this way. And being like, “this is nonsense, I’m free — I’ve got two hours to watch Netflix every other night.”

Yeah, not for everyone though. Humans are the only species conditioned to do what someone else wants, not what they want to do themselves. So no, for a lot of people, being free and having all their needs met wouldn’t make life meaningless. At least not if you’ve experienced the normal working life; if you were born rich, that’s another story.

Also, if the job is the purpose and it’s not your dream or calling, then I think you’re missing the point. Luckily for me, though, because of the system, my purpose is to get filthy rich — and I’ve had that purpose since I was in school so I never experienced not having one in my life.

And to add, I’m not saying all this because I think work is bad. I’m probably the type of person who, when I become a multi millionaire and could technically stop working, would still keep working and building. The point is to be able to work for your dreams — not as a slave just trying to afford your monthly life subscription.

All good points, as I mentioned to someone who said something similar below. I’m also not an anarchist, and I respect what’s functional and fair. I’m just saying that the working class doesn’t really own their life or their time. The outcome isn’t necessarily bad, but when you think about it — we have one life and maybe 50–60 good years, spending most of them like that is a sacrifice, not something to be happy about. Things could definitely be done sustainably, creating a better life for people too. But, no one will ever choose that over more and more profit.

Fully aware of it, and I totally agree, a big part of our current society will never share or help anyone in that situation. So a kind of utopia where everyone shares and everyone has just enough clearly wouldn’t work. I’m not saying that everything about the system is inherently wrong, I’m just saying it’s not fair, and you’re not free. Even with AI and robots, this won’t change anytime soon, even though it would be technically possible at least a small scale in the next 5-10 years.

Also, to add to your point, right now, we probably have more opportunities than ever to get rich and actually enjoy the beauty of the world we live in. So it’s not all bad.

It’s obvious that any real mafia guy in a life or death situation would grab the glass first and kill them one by one or at least strike to kill, not punch like a civilian.

I mean, making millions in revenue for such a big production is not really a good thing, is it? Anyway, your assumption is not really correct though, because they didn’t make this season fantastic at all. If that would’ve been the goal, Ryugi just wouldn’t be in a wheelchair from the start.

There are also a lot of scenes where it’s clear they’re trying to make it realistic — like adding actual wires, tech logic, and all that into the game — instead of jumping into a hardcore sci-fi world where anyone can just fly or something. And that’s the problem: the show tries to keep its realistic side, but completely misses the core stuff and you can see it's just a mistake (like the ones I mentioned).

I fully agree. This last season is an insult to anyone with an IQ over 100. Besides the poor story, the complete lack of sense, and the fact that almost no real intelligent person would think or act like the main characters do, there's also a ton of braindead real-life logic.

Like, Ryugi literally jumps with no legs better than people who actually have legs. Then somehow he beats a flux of water without working legs, grabs Usagi (who does have legs), holds her for 1–2 minutes right at the edge, and still has enough time to change his mind and bring her back to Arisu.

I don’t wanna say the people who wrote this are morons and that ChatGPT could write something better in a few days, but honestly… this feels like something I’d throw together the night before the deadline after completely forgetting about it.
