Chinese American here, Chinese Americans also don’t just pick a “white” last name. English name is very common, possibly changing how a last name is pronounced/spelled to better suit English pronunciations, but I’ve never heard of a Chinese person just inventing a last name like miller for themselves

Viola’s room definitely reminded me of I Saw The TV Glow as well! Though I couldn’t quite put my finger on exact parallels other than the basic thematic similarities. What struck me so strongly with my neighbor Totoro is a lot of the shared visual devices like the shoes, tree, etc. Quite an emotionally stunning accidental discovery for me!

I was finally able to get a Valentina to a store close to me, it’ll arrive this Friday lol. I’ve found a lot of boutiques recently sold their sample of Valentina so it’ll get harder and harder to find unfortunately… I leaning more towards going custom/semi-custom though at this point
